@Alan_Curr Either way it has certainly added intrigue to Day 5. The way these two are batting and the pitch is playing I reckon it is closer to 50/50. These two will have to get themselves out at this stage.
@DarrenAndo I’d argue that if he was in control of his body, why not turn his palms up to keep the ball off the floor? Possibly because he was afraid of it popping out on impact, which is another good reason for it to be not out.
Aus are still going to win by 3 digits regardless!
Just to weigh in on the Starc non-catch…if you think that’s out then would it also have been out if he’d slid over the boundary? Of course you don’t. #Ashes#Starc
@Alan_Curr I would argue that Starc was in control of his body movements as he knew what he was doing and clearly stayed inside the boundary… different story if you are sliding across a boundary as you’re clearly not in control of your body movement (same goes for stumbling, falling, etc)
@DarrenAndo Sorry fella, but now you’re being inconsistent. The law is around controlling your body, to apply it consistently then sliding into the boundary is not out, same with grounding the ball.
Can’t speak to the other cases, not seen, but no doubt there’s inconsistencies everywhere.
@Alan_Curr Certainly not, and that is my point. The inconsistency/greyness of how it is being adjudicated is the problem. Starc took the catch, controlled the ball and remained in the field of play, that should be out. Completely different story if he goes across the boundary.
First lunch at Shepley Oval for three years and Dandenong CC's Liz Williamson has presented a fair feast for the Dandy and Plenty Valley women. @stricko7 the first player to fill her plate.
