そういえば、Twitterで日本に興味を持ってくれて、日本旅行を計画してる海外ニキにひとつだけ重要なことを伝えておきたい。
日本では、他の先進国と比べても放火の罪が非常に重い。
これは、木造住宅が多く、ひとたび火がつけば広範囲に延焼して大きな被害をもたらすという文化的背景が大きい。
現在の日本の法律では、人が住んでいる建物に放火した場合の量刑は、死刑or無期懲役or5年以上の懲役。
他の国では、その放火によって結果的に死傷者が出たら量刑が跳ね上がるってケースが多い。
だけど、日本の場合は結果を待たずして、建物に火をつけた時点で法律上は死刑の可能性が出てくる。
もし、日本旅行の際に魔が差したとしても、放火だけはやめておいたほうがいい。
