my favorite new york social code is when a lone person needs to get a stroller up the subway stairs. nearly instantly, a stranger picks up the other end of the stroller, helps carry it up, then departs as quickly as they appeared. no words are exchanged. eye contact is minimal.

@BravesAshland I feel like this is both normal and also not normal. On one hand I would want my separate car that I’m used to driving everyday, and know where everything is placed. On the other hand, how do they manage with leaving stuff in the car? Like what if i forget my lip gloss? 😭😭

I just found out a married couple I know doesn’t have assigned cars. Like they have 2 cars.. but one isn’t his and hers… they just wake up every morning and grab whatever set of keys and go??? That’s the craziest thing I’ve ever heard in all my lives????

Me in San Francisco: we can move to many other places in the US and live in a big mansion, retire early *me outside of San Francisco*: oh no, there’s no place like San Francisco.

@kevinleeme Drinking juice from a juice box. I got one in summer day camp when I was 8 years old and I kept refilling it with water for days to pretend I have a juice. We moved to Canada when I was ten and my cousin casually offered me a juice box out of a 24 pack. I was floored.

When I was a kid, I was so envious of my well off friends who had fridges with ice dispensers. We couldn't afford those nice fridges so I waited overnight for my ice trays to freeze to get ice cubes. My dumb "made it" dream was to get one of those fridges someday. Now I finally have one and I feel so lucky every time I get ice for my water. It's a simple pleasure and it helps me realize I don't need much to be happy. What's your dumb "made it" dream that you finally accomplished?

6 Habits That Will Change Your Life: 1. Exercise 2. Cooking 3. Meditation 4. Reading 5. Writing 6. Socializing I know, what a boring fucking list. But that's the thing: most of life is boring. If you want to change it, make boring changes.

We assume change has to be some grand and dramatic action. It doesn’t. Quitting alcohol will change your life more than climbing a mountain. Regular exercise will make you happier than an expensive seminar. A talk with a friend will mean more than a fancy party. Start small.

For those at risk of speech loss, we’ve made it possible to preserve your voice on your devices so even if you can no longer speak, you can still sound like you. It’s remarkable to see the experiences this technology helps preserve, while also protecting your privacy.

So, I spoke to people getting food at a food bank and here are some things I learned from those in need: 1. Everyone donates Kraft Mac and Cheese in the box. They can rarely use it because it needs milk and butter which is hard to get from regular food banks. 2. Boxed milk is a treasure, as kids need it for cereal which they also get a lot of. 3. Everyone donates pasta sauce and spaghetti noodles. 4. They cannot eat all the awesome canned veggies and soup unless you put a can opener in too or buy pop tops. 5. Oil is a luxury but needed for Rice a-Roni which they also get a lot of. 6. Spices or salt and pepper would be a real Christmas gift. 7. Tea bags and coffee make them feel like you care. 8. Sugar and flour are treats. 9. They fawn over fresh produce donated by farmers and grocery stores. 10. Seeds are cool in Spring and Summer because growing can be easy for some. 11. They rarely get fresh meat. 12. Tuna and crackers make a good lunch. 13. Hamburger Helper goes nowhere without ground beef. 14. They get lots of peanut butter and jelly but usually not sandwich bread. 15. Butter or margarine is nice too. 16. Eggs are a real commodity. 17. Cake mix and frosting makes it possible to make a child’s birthday cake. 18. Dishwashing detergent is very expensive and is always appreciated. 19. Feminine hygiene products are a luxury and women will cry over that. 20. Everyone loves Stove Top Stuffing. In all the years I have donated food at the Holidays, I bought what I thought they wanted, but have never asked. I am glad I did. If you are helping a Family this Christmas, maybe this can help you tailor it more. It does for me!

This is one of the clearest satellite views you will ever see of California. Breathtaking satellite image today of California, one of the most beautiful places on the planet.
