@Dashman01 great post Darren and I am back again. I think Hondo and Paleface benefited by coverage on the ABC when they transcended the sport, I'd bracket them. As mentioned by others Maoris Idol. He beat Paleface and ran 2nd in Group race v Pacers after winning heats - amazing

@AlanParker49962 Could certainly be there Alan. These things are so subjective. Hondo an example for me. Not old enough to have seen him, but saw him parade many times in retirement when AD would bring him to the track at request. Bathurst bias kicks in!

@ThwaitesyJ There is and maybe a decade is too long. But great discussion. Māoris Idol has to be in the conversation. Probably from the fact it could do what trotters could not, and haven’t done since.
