@TradHarryKim @nesh @thiojoe I'm not crusading against the traditional run box, just this dumbed down version that looks essentially like start/search. The one thing that made the run box unique, the file browser, seems to be missing in the new one.

@DataMeister1 @nesh @thiojoe It does so more slowly and less reliably because, well, it has to search. Your crusade against an objectively useful and lightweight feature is bizarre, especially since it has an extremely tiny footprint and never gets in the way if you don't want to use it.

I don’t think the Windows run box should be user friendly tbh. Normies are already getting one-shotted by malicious websites that tell them to run a command that just installs malware. The design should imply “this box should be rarely used and by nerds only”.

@nesh @thiojoe The Run box is extremely convenient for launching things like devmgmt.msc, diskmgmt.msc, regedit, taskkill, etc. quickly. It's more convenient than a terminal because it goes away after launching that one thing I want and is faster than search/start menu.

@nesh @thiojoe The only real advantage it added was the file picker. So you could visually browse the file path instead of having to type it out and risk misspellings.

Most idiotic thing is having it at all. There is 0 reason for it. If there is no proper GUI path to something, then it should **require** invocation from cmd/pwsh/... And they should NEVER autostart to run anything incl. click/enter/w/e on script files. To run terminal cmd you OPEN one and type it in.

@jakecobb You might have a case for a couple states but Utah, Nebraska, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Oklahoma, Arkansas, West Virginia, and Alaska don't count. None of those states are gerrymandered.

There are currently 12 red state with zero Democrat representatives. That’s nearly 1/4 of US states. Republicans are trying to add 5 more through gerrymandering. That would be more than 1/3 of all states. It’s time to outlaw gerrymandering!

@DComicTalks @fandompulse Depends on if the 100 million includes the advertising budget which it probably doesn't. Theaters take about 50% of ticket sales so the box office needs to be 200 million break even. Before advertising. If they spend 25 million on advertising then 250 million to break even.

Puck News founder Matt Belloni, on Supergirl's 2026 summer box office prospects after seeing the CinemaCon footage: "Seems like lesser and kind of a, you know, IP milking. So, I am dropping this to a two." His projection: $300-350 million worldwide. Half of what Superman made. Potentially $200 million in losses depending on budget. The DCU is a few weeks away from its second film. Is this what a franchise relaunch looks like?

@JayExci I don't think you read the objective fact right. The trolly is rolling and the blues are standing on the track trying to flip the switch, if there are enough of them they can move the lever and change the track. Reds decided to not stand on the tracks at all.

@RiddleTrades @Rightanglenews That seems like a really good amount for starting point, but there should be an easy path for a really good teacher to bump up the pay and it should be really hard for a bad teacher to get anything more than that.

Most teachers did not want that day off. Also, some bad actors were mixed in. Teachers were actually trying to fight for fair pay. They are some of the lowest paid in the country. A starting teacher makes $40k and has been that way for over 5 years. What other profession requires a degree and additional certifications and pays so low? Also, should our teachers make a livable wage? They do care for our children.

Furious parents are now demanding the removal of federal funding for over 20 North Carolina public schools after they engaged in mass, coordinated, teacher-led anti-Trump walkouts, forcing the cancellation of classes for more than 700,000 kids. Here’s the list, make some noise.

@microsofterses @ClintRutkas @Niels9001 Where is the file browser in the new run app. You can run almost any app from Start/search. The only reason to actually launch the run app was if you needed the file browser. Removing that feature makes the run app unecessary.

🇨🇳 This might be the most futuristic thing you’ll see today: Artificial skylights that use LED panels + nanotechnology to create hyper-realistic blue skies and sunlight in completely windowless rooms. You can even switch from bright midday sun to warm sunset glow with a remote. We’re now simulating the sky indoors because real windows are apparently too much to ask for in dense cities. This is either peak innovation…or lowkey dystopian. You decide.

@DreamAmerica_ Right now the people tell their state how they want it to vote and then each state votes for the president (with extra weighting behind more populous states). Why change it to individual votes? Do you not want to tailor your campaigns toward small towns anymore?

This is a test of selfishness and lack of care for others. If you puck blue, you want everyone to live. If you pick red, you dont care that people who picked blue die. There is no other way to argue this. Statistically you cant get more than like 70% of people to agree on almost anything, so picking red, youre ok with wiping out like 30%+ of people. Its easy to make that choice when you don't know who the 30% is. This shows a lack of empathy, and forethought, because surely you will have some family members, your mom, brother, niece, etc that pick blue, and had you known that consequence beforehand, you would have chosen different. This sort of experiment seems benign, but its a glimpse at how the 45% or so of people actually feel about the 55% that chose correctly. They will sell you down the river quick if they dont know you personally, but then play ignorant/stupid when the consequences hit them personally.
MrBeast@MrBeast

Everyone on earth takes a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press? BE HONEST.

@yaghsizian @Prowl8413 That isn't a clean analogy because of how the game was setup. It would be more like saying, someone might jump into the river so half of our group needs to jump in now so we can form a chain across it to catch anyone else that jumps in.

@Prowl8413 Basically this, assuming red is the rational choice, you have to assume someone will irrationally pick blue (fall in the river) do you save them with a human chain or sit on the shore and just say they are stupid for falling and everyone else is stupid for trying to save them
