Today's attention spans are shorter than ever. That's why we've introduced the new Cognitive Enrichment Mode at @Datawisp. Wispy already takes under 10 seconds to answer any data question - but in 2025, 10 seconds feels like an eternity. With our new Wait-Time Intelligence *TM*, users can stay engaged during these important few seconds. It's a crucial part of the insights finding process.

Want AI data analytics without spending hours on setup? Here's a quick video showing how you can connect a @SnowflakeDB DB, ask a question, and get your first answer in just under 3 minutes. No analytics views to create. No tables to join. It just works.

A customer signed up on Friday and has spent about 2.5 hours in the product since. The thing is - our product is B2B, paywalled, and every single CTA points to "get demo." My first thought was "how did he get past our paywall?" The answer? He paid! If you're curious what it feels like to get your first 100% self service *paying* customer at a B2B startup in an industry where sales cycles can be over a year long, here's a little insight into what life at @datawisp was like this weekend.

Tableau (or PowerBI, or any other software) and Datawisp can coexist within the same organization because they largely serve different purposes.

Enterprises' understanding of AI has matured so much in the past year. When we first started Datawisp, "you can ask any data question in English and get an answer" was enough to get a meeting, because what we did was equivalent to black magic. So we'd blow people away in demos. But no one was converting. They were hesitant about adopting genAI because of security concerns (which were unexplored at the time) and simply because of general fear and uncertainty. It was never based in fact or science. They also asked extremely unreasonable questions, basically expecting the AI to do 100% of their job for them. Fast forward to today, and customers are more educated than ever. They have a range of AI powered data tools to choose from, and come prepared with questions ranging from "what model are you using" to "can we set up a version of this where none of the data ever leaves our cloud?" They want to make sure that the platforms leverage their existing data dictionaries and have a much better grasp of the types of questions AI is suited for (e.g. avoid complicated why or why not questions). If you're selling a "genAI" product, it's not enough anymore to communicate your basic value proposition. You need to focus on what makes your offering different from all the others, and even start to think of "meta" marketing (e.g. Apple's Think Different).

If your company already uses Tableau (or another BI tool) - there's still many reasons for you to also try out Datawisp. Here's a quick summary outlining use cases where traditional BI tools like Tableau and PowerBI shine and those where Datawisp might be better suited. The world is changing and in 2024, it's totally okay to use more than one data platform!

If data is so important, why aren't data analytics companies worth more? Everyone knows the value of data. We're constantly bombarded with phrases like "data is the new oil" and "make your team data-driven" yet data companies are surprisingly bad at capturing value. @SuperGoodCTO wrote an article diving into this topic. TLDR: -Current-gen BI tools are extremely limited in what they can do technically -This means increasing penetration of these tools within the enterprise also requires proportionally more data science resources (which are scarce) -GenAI can finally deliver on the promise of "democratizing data" datawisp.io/blog/how-genai…

Thanks to everyone who came out to our #SFTechWeek event "Can AI replace your data scientist" and to our panelists Mengying Li and Leo Li for sharing their insights with the crowd! TL;DR in case you missed it - Generative AI is already starting to have an impact on the world of data science and helping teams work more efficiently by automating / speeding up certain tasks. As the technology evolves we'll see more use cases. However, data scientists are more than just SQL writing machines - they understand your business, your strategy, and know how to work cross functionally with other (human) teams to achieve company goals. AI won't be replacing them anytime soon!
