This was a great session during the 2-day #AfricaMediaFestival2026 to discuss the business and art of media. Journalism is no longer limited to newsrooms but that expertise remains invaluable beyond those rooms in the age of #AI as multiple case studies demonstrated.

Driving thru Scotland as I approach Edinburgh admiring the country side and the infrastructure and contrasting it with our beloved but sorry state of Kenya...then a friend sent me a video of a rally where a politician's revolutionary agenda for his country was aptly captured in his refrain "fire si fire..noma si noma". Then it sunk in me why we are where we are!

@MoscowTimes @Bellona_EU Biased shallow reporting. Why don't you also cover the Nordstream environmental disaster? Time to move on from blaming everything on one country. It's getting old now.

I typically avoid public controversy, but this situation requires a response. On May 30, we at @Mariblock published a strong op-ed examining the legal status of crypto in Nigeria. 📰 Read it here: mariblock.com/crypto-is-lega… Just one day later — on May 31 — @DavGit of @BitcoinKE republished our piece verbatim, without permission or attribution. 📄 The version on their site: bitcoinke.io/2025/05/crypto… We reached out privately to resolve this issue, requesting that the post be taken down or, at the very least, properly attributed at the top of the article with a link and a mention of Mariblock as the original source. Instead, after two months of back-and-forth, they quietly added this at the bottom of the article: “The above post is adapted from an original piece published here.” — with no mention of Mariblock, no link at the top, and no apology. Instead, @DavGit says I am “a very unreasonable person.” To be clear: While we were willing to let it slide, I should note that this is not an adaptation. It is blatant plagiarism. This is not the first time we’ve seen @BitcoinKE display this disregard for basic publishing ethics. On several occasions, @BitcoinKE has uploaded reports by global institutions to their site, watermarked and rebranded. Examples: - bitcoinke.io/wp-content/upl… - bitcoinke.io/wp-content/upl… In my 15 years working in research and publishing, I haven’t met a team with such disregard for editorial ethics as @BitcoinKE. We’ll ensure this is the last time our work is misappropriated in this way. Mariblock will take appropriate action to address this.

I keep going back to this $14 million problem amidst the current discussions around crypto regulation in Kenya. Other jurisdictions don't take this approach until the market is mature enough. Was it necessary to set up a separate regulatory body? @MzalendoWatch @KeTreasury
