They 9/10 not gone be able to check each other at the end of the day when you talking about the ELITE players.

Arkansas coach John Calipari said days before Arkansas faced Alabama, Darius Acuff Jr. was in a walking boot. Instead of sitting out, Acuff played all 50 minutes and finished with 49 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists with just (1!) turnover.

@whoisbledose @FlaggistheMasia @TheCollinDunks My pitch is that there aren’t many guards in the NBA that are elite on both ends if there is any. And mfs continue to speak about defense yet are disingenuous when speaking about the situation/system he was playing in.

An injured foot playing 40 minutes a game in a 6 man rotation. Name me somebody who would’ve been passable in that system dude.

And that does absolutely nothing to counter my point: the best guards aren’t elite on defense but they’re at least passable. And every single guy you mentioned is about half a foot taller and more athletic than Acuff

@whoisbledose @FlaggistheMasia @TheCollinDunks If Jaylen brown isn’t elite then neither is Shai. I watched Andrew nembhard consistently attack him in the finals when it mattered most. Which further proves my point, there isn’t too many guys that can give you elite on both ends at the guard position.

Hes an elite athlete and he tries hard on ball. Acuff effort tapering off on college level wear and tear isn’t a good sign. Plus he’s a mid athlete

Plus it's good strategy to attack the other teams highest usage guy to wear him down. He had more steals and rebounds in the tournament. He can be a part of a top 10 NBA defense. Better positioning and angles fighting around screens is something that can be learned. I think he has enough agility

@whoisbledose @FlaggistheMasia @TheCollinDunks Jaylen brown can pick you up 94 feet and clamp you. I would consider him a better on ball defender than Shai. Acuff effort on defense was pretty good start of the season. 40 minutes a night on a messed up foot in a 6 man rotation will hinder your effort.

Both are kinda bad off ball and lack great instincts, but high effort on-ball + elite physical tools = passable. Elite offensive guards just need to be passable. Acuff is low effort + mid tools

@FlaggistheMasia @TheCollinDunks It’s only like 3 or 4 guards in the nba that can give you elite offense and elite defense. People make it seem as if starting guards just immediate 2 ways in the league. Shai(who’s overrated on defense) Cade, Jaylen brown, and Ant prolly the only elite 2 way guards in the nba.

@TheCollinDunks It’s both but it’s mostly having to play 35 minutes a night on a 6 man rotation with turf toe and you can’t foul because you’re the entire offensive engine He needs to show more effort fighting through screens, I’ll give you that
