After the party
Cups filled to brimming
The slurry of carbonation
On the mahogany washstand
Slurred nouns, sweary prefixes
Limbs akimbo like storm boughs
On sleepy forms
Somewhere in the memory-balloons
Jostle skeins of song
Shouted, unsynced

Child 3
The following item
Contains dangerous activity
Or flashing lights
He’s in the back of a car
Uninsured for international travel
Eating snacks
Or on a train roof
Weaving points
In a monsoon haze
Even in a busy street
He ducks peril
Lands on his feet

@DaveGreen1963 There’s a raw honesty in this piece …light pushing through foliage, shadows left unresolved, and just enough warmth at the edge to suggest presence rather than spectacle. It feels les like a scene and more like a memory forming in real time.

@kidcobbler @reacctionary In a very quick game today, surprised myself in row two with such a random placement of the one yellow tile from row 1 which was the first letter in row 2.

What is it that binds us?
Greatness can be looked up
In the folds of tired hearts
The small gestures of love
Life’s measurable arts
More dead than living
Mobs of altruistic blanks
In their drab pinnies and caps
Turning backs on our thanks

After the shock
They’ll ask me what I did
Amongst the craters and dust
Ashes of our cosy world
Sailing on toxic breezes
Waves of nausea
I’ll live in a train tunnel
Use perspective to push
Away all the mistakes we made
Like the flywheel, piston,
Autocracy, trade

Sunday
Watching the tide dry
Suck up all those eels
Breakers breaking groynes
Oystercatchers tooting
Curlews fluting
The lost hours floating away
Like my hat the sea grabbed
Gold leaf on the rotten kelp
Estuary embers at the edges
Headless swans

@Hazzreid In good humour I hope. It’s nice that you like one of them. My work on this earth is done.
