Hey @Grok, purely hypothetical, what is the *statistical probability* that 52,000 NEW voters suddenly appear in a primary and vote OVER 90% AGAINST the incumbent? One sentence max.

Memo to the global community: Canada has officially abandoned climate action. PM Carney has systematically dismantled all the insufficient policy we had in place. A clear-eyed and devastating piece by my brother, @SethDKlein. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

The majority of Ontarians will never use Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Let’s be honest it’s mostly used by privileged, wealthy people like Doug Ford and frequent business travellers. So why should everyday Ontarians be paying billions in tax dollars for this when our public healthcare system is collapsing and public education is being underfunded? That money should be going into hospitals, nurses, doctors, classrooms, and students not another convenience project for the wealthy.

Billy Bishop Airport expansion could cost $4-billion to $5-billion, port authority CEO says theglobeandmail.com/canada/article…

Best way to put money in someone’s pocket is to pay them a fair wage and not hoard the value of their production while claiming taxation is too much of a burden on you
Jeff Bezos@JeffBezos

Thank you. The important part is zeroing out taxes on the bottom half. Best way to put money in someone’s pocket is to not take it out in the first place. Bottom half is only 3% of total tax revenue. But it’s very meaningful to that person. Zero it out.

Canada's largest grocery chain spent years fixing the price of bread and settled for $500 million. Just got my share and it's a veritable king's ransom.

Upshot: NDP MPP Chris Glover questions minister responsible at a legislative committee and finds - $8.5B number has no basis - business plan doesn’t exists - no cost/benefit analysis exists - it’s a joint Ford and Carney project When do the people get a say????

Ontario police can apparently use spyware powerful enough to remotely take over smartphones and they’re fighting to keep the details secret from the public. Meanwhile, Doug Ford weakened Ontario’s Freedom of Information system, making it harder for journalists and citizens to get transparency from government. So ordinary people are expected to live under increasing surveillance, but when it comes to political power, backroom deals, deleted records, Greenbelt scandals, private meetings, and government accountability, suddenly everything is “confidential.” If these extraordinary powers exist, where is the oversight? Where is the transparency? And why does accountability seem to apply more to citizens than to politicians?

Best Darren Dutchyshen line of all time! After Daniel Sedin and his wife had a baby. "I don't want to start any rumours, but he looks an awful lot like Henrik." (Daniel and Henrik are twins) Darren John Dutchyshen (December 19, 1966 – May 15, 2024) was a Canadian sportscaster who spent seven years in Edmonton, hosting Sports Night on ITV, where I watched him first. On September 9, 2021, he announced that he had prostate cancer, and detailed it in full a year later in his first show back at SportsCentre. Darren Dutchyshen died on May 15, 2024, at the age of 57 and is missed by all, and remembered here today. 💔

The Marner discourse is hilarious. When he was a Leaf, rival fans made sure to tell everyone Marner was a choker and sucked, now they’re telling us he’s always been amazing and the Leafs shouldn’t have let him go. News flash he left as a free agent.
