@rwrandall As a pedestrian I have only been knocked off my feet once. By a guy on a mobility scooter on Douglas just north of Yates. He smiled at me but did not stop. Sigh.

Cycling to work this morning @ Quadra and Johnson and a guy in a mobility scooter runs a red light and comes literally within inches of getting completely smoked by an oncoming car. I yelled at the dude but he just kept going, completely oblivious. Incredible to watch.

@Pagmenzies They should have kept the Times Colonist, it seems; their numbers would have been better. Of course, that assumes they could have left us alone.

Postmedia thankful for government assistance as revenue tumbles in advertising by $14.4 million (22.1%) and circulation revenue by $7.1 million (17.8%). Operating expenses slashed accordingly. postmedia.com/2024/01/10/pos…

Having a kid means being asked “do I *have* to go to school, it’s too cold and probably closed” and also “do I really have to wear my coat, I’m not even cold,” by the same person, within 45 seconds. In many ways a career in politics was the best possible training for parenthood.

The Beatles performing "Twist & Shout", 1964. This was one of the first appearances of The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show. For the many who witnessed The Beatles' early appearances on British television, this song is synonymous with those exciting era-defining times.

@kirklapointe @AprilWineBand I interviewed him for the Vernon News in about 1975. Nice guy.
English

With the help of legendary #MichaelCohl, we booked @AprilWineBand to Massey Hall for an Etobicoke student-only high school show in the mid-70s. They killed. Interviewed him a few years ago for his book, which has the very, very best stories of the road. A true Canadian original.

My former colleague @LisaLaFlamme_ discusses her career. Proud to call her a friend and to hear her talk about the future of the craft.

Our fab Lieutenant Governor #JanetAustin is a great supporter of our craft. She delivers an authentic address on the challenges of journalism at the #websters. Always encouraging professionally and personally.

@BobKronbauer @j_mcelroy Like Vernon, back in the days when they had the best city hall reporter ever
