The first day of school - Provincial Students' Day - is an exciting day! The Min. of Education designates Provincial Students' Day each year to acknowledge the importance of all students and to alert drivers that students are back in school - this year on Sept. 1 #BacktoSchoolSK

@DCS_Rebels @Dave_C_OFB @ErynMH I love this. In Kindergarten/Grade 1, we have some sunflowers and zinnias that have popped out and some peppers we are waiting *patiently* for! Cannot wait to see your progress/growth!

Taught online this week for the first time. Here are some takeaways… - the relationships made with students only grew after this. - many new class inside jokes. - connection is a key aspect of schooling. This was the #1 focus this week. p.1

- I stayed on the call all day. From 8:25am to 2:42pm. Even after just because some students wanted to chat. - we learn all day in class, why would a teacher not stay on the call all day. - taking time for students to connect with each other is huge. p.2

- staying on the call so students can talk to someone if they want / need to is so important. - our classroom routines transferred exactly over. Expectations stayed the same. - the very first day was hard. I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t. - it progressively got better daily.

- overall, many different observations from this week. I think the main important idea with switching temporarily to online is the exact same as in class. Relationships are always first. Always. Connection is key.

The % scale gives the allusion of accuracy, but it’s actually impossible to accurately differentiate 101 levels of learning. The 4-point scale increases validity & reliability of grades because we can articulate ea. performance level & reliably assess Ss learning w/ these levels
