@sargo_dy What? Pretty much everyone who works has a lunch break and they do not drink during it. I honestly don't care what MPs do between votes, but am really enjoying this latest round of Labour right briefcases pretending to be normal and getting it totally wrong.

If you offered most people the opportunity to have a drink with their lunch/dinner while they're waiting to go back to work, they would take that opportunity. Spencer doesn't understand the people she claims to represent.

"You can smell the alcohol when people are in between votes." Green MP Hannah Spencer tells us what Westminster is REALLY like. The full interview is live on YouTube, and as a podcast here: linktr.ee/howtorebuildbr…

Sean has never worked behind a bar or done any job that involves networking or relationship building because I’ve seen plenty of ‘normal’ people have a drink whilst working. I’ve even seen tradespeople enjoy a cold beer whilst working on a hot afternoon.
Sean Galloway@SeanGalloway_

She’s absolutely right about this. Normal working-class people can’t drink while working, let alone be encouraged to do so with multiple bars offering subsidised prices at a cost of £6 million a year to the taxpayer.

@BritishTaiga @blixberrie Yeah instead of coffee this morning I just cracked open a can of Stella in the office. Nobody cared. Perfectly normal.

@blixberrie What’s normal for the Working-Class, is for them not to care if someone has a drink while at work. All she’s done is expose herself as a Middle-Class snob.

Pretending it’s a normal “working class” experience to drink alcohol during working hours is really the best example of someone so out of touch trying hard not to be
noah 🦌🇬🇧🇸🇪@callumseuk

actually i think it’s a very british thing to discuss important matters over a drink in a pub. if anything, i feel it puts mps back in the heads of ordinary brits. and i think this shows so called ‘working class’ hannah doesnt really get the working class traditions of the UK.

@thecityshack @ManCity Yeah because it's the same 50,000 people every time. United had a similar run for a longer period, but because they're a big club there were millions of people after tickets. City are a small club juiced up by oil money, so it all looks weird and a bit off.

When you’ve been to Wembley 23 times since 2016 with a predominantly working class Manchester fan base then you can talk about attendance. We don’t have an endless pot of cash. The issue is semi finals being played at Wembley and not a neutral venue.

@PeteHall86 Point is they don't have many fans. No doubt plenty of United supporters skipped games when they enjoyed similar success. But there were always many, many more to take their place. With City there's not. It's all a bit hollow and nobody's really interested.

This infuriates me. No true football fan should be laughing at Man City empty seats. Not many people can afford three trips to Wembley in seven weeks. Those who don’t understand that need to have a long hard look at themselves. #MCFC inews.co.uk/sport/football…

@johnmilbank3 The persecution of Christians in africa is not on the same scale, there isn't a powerful pro-Boko Haram lobby in our politics, and we can surely do a lot less about a random terrorist group's atrocities than a longstanding western ally?

It is absurd that Gaza so preoccupied British politics. Yes Israel has been led atrociously into doing atrocious things but many other atrocities should also concern us elsewhere: the plight of Christians in parts of Africa for example. And what can we do about Gaza? Little.

@NicholasTyrone Yeah, play stupid games win stupid prizes. Neoconservarism has been an unmitigated disaster, so there are far more immoral and destructive acts chalked up against its record, but this is easily the dumbest.

@REMARKSIST I just tried that and ended up giving £1.72 because it was all the coins I had. And this was outside a station where lateness was plausible. These people aren't amateurs.

@Chuttnise @NicholasTyrone I think you could have a lengthy discussion about which of the invasion of Ukraine or Gazan genocide are morally worse, and the extent of Trump's role in the latter (Biden more guilty IMO) But i don't think there's doubt the US can inflict far more harm on the UK than Russia?

The idea that Starmer’s relationship with Trump is worse than Putin invading a neighbouring country, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, is one of the stupidest things ever expressed by Polanski. And that’s saying something.
Politics UK@PolitlcsUK

🚨 NEW: Zack Polanski suggests Donald Trump is worse than Vladimir Putin “As horrendous as Putin is… I’ve never seen him threaten genocide. I've never seen him threaten to wipe out a civilization… Starmer’s so-called special relationship is more of a danger than what Putin is doing in Ukraine” [@antoguerrera]

@torysc_mout @AaronBastani Problem is that to anyone who's not been arguing on the Internet about the Labour Party for a decade, you sound really weird and a bit deranged. So does Streeting.

@AaronBastani Every single word he said is true. The Green Party is the party of antisemites now. The filthy vermin that support Antisemite Corbyn and killed the Labour Party until Keir Starmer let it rise from the ashes like a phoenix.

I wasn’t planning to vote Green next week. They have no presence in my ward, & the Labour councillor is excellent. Worst case I might not have voted. But the more I see of this garbage the more I’m repelled. Every time these guys talk they’re losing councillor colleagues votes.
Steven Swinford@Steven_Swinford

Superb piece from @tompeck who went out door-knocking with Wes Streeting in his constituency Streeting was withering about the Greens “Without traducing the entire Green Party and their activist base when I see some of the people who joined the Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn, and have since left the Labour Party and joined the Greens, I feel a sense of relief “I feel sorry for the old, cuddly environmentalists who are now overrun with a bunch of people who made the Labour Party unelectable, who’ll be delighted that Zack Polanski would happily pull us out of Nato and they’ll make every excuse under the sun to defend the indefensible.” And here he is on the independents: “We’re voting for Redbridge council, not the UN security council. Who you choose to run your local council matters and the Redbridge independents represent a divisive brand of sectarian politics. I don’t want to see Redbridge becoming a basket case or a rotten borough like Tower Hamlets.” thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

@MUFC_Corey18 @barre_tttender @Taiya_Wright Corbyn wanted to make it a national holiday. There's always been a bit of a debate about "should we do more" around in politics and broader culture. I'm sceptical of "reclaim x from the far right"-style thinking generally but old Jezza might have been onto something with this

@Davejackson9876 @barre_tttender @Taiya_Wright Those aisles are already there all year round though. I don't think you're a racist based off this thread, I was being extreme with my example. We've never had masses of celebrations for St George's Day, it's only a discussion because of the rise of Reform's nationalist agenda.
