Just an update for people wondering about my safety in Dubai. Prior to the attacks, I had a trip booked to Australia to visit family & friends. My flight was meant to leave 2 days after the first attack. As a result, it was cancelled and I’ve been on standby ever since. As time passes, it becomes more clear to me that it’s actually safer to stay here than to risk flying. Even though the UAE are putting people’s safety first by escorting every flight out with fighter jets (what incredible leadership), the risks are still high. There are people here that were only here on holidays and got stuck, ran out of money & had no intention to stay here long term. This is not me. I’ve built my life here, I’m happy here & I feel safe here. For this reason, I feel it’s better to let all the flights take the tourists home first. I’m monitoring things day by day and I have an exit plan ready should I need to leave at short notice. I miss my daughter terribly and I was really looking forward to seeing her. As hard as that is, I know the universe will look after us and we’ll be together again when the time is right, and safe. For now, Dubai is really peaceful right now. It feels calm here, the people choosing to stay are happy & people who left are already trying to get back - that says something! We trust our government and as someone who was raised in Australia, just being able to say that sentence makes me so grateful for every single day I get to be here. Thank you UAE 🇦🇪
