@Boogily_Woogily By making the early chain all about Malacrass, it undercuts why Zul’jan is so eager to dig deeper. I think mixing Malacrass’ notes with his grandfather’s would help a lot; they worked on it together, it ties directly to Zul’jin’s legacy, and it gives his search a stronger drive.

@Boogily_Woogily Liadrin worked because she offered an empathetic lens on Zul’jin despite hating him, and her arc with the Naaru mirrored his with the Loa. Zul’jan doesn’t get that perspective— instead he meets Zul’jin’s biggest glazer and gets handed the legacy to continue his work.

@Krexxal It's why I stopped in Shadowlands, and Midnight is very likely my second stopping point.

I’ve always stood by that WoW could have terrible narrative or terrible gameplay, not both. Midnight somehow drops the ball in every level with half-assed class reworks, terrible narrative and buggy with anti-player design. I’m barely logging in anymore. .0.7 seals the deal.

What’s the point of logging in? What’s there to look forward to? I’m not excited for what’s coming later, I’m dreading it because it’s always about “what damage will this do now”? PvP is borderline unplayable, the new BG is a mess, everything’s buggy and you’ve shot the plot.

@valarynn @Typerighting When you can see their online presence is tagging their buddies for pats on the back adding their or their friend’s OC headcanon, it’s pretty clear they’re writing for an audience of themselves. It’s why weird stuff gets highlighted out of nowhere, see: Anastarian.

@Typerighting Its why I have zero faith in things improving. They don't see the story as a problem, they're totally insulated. I don't think they've ever really outwardly acknowledged players ire with the narrative beyond the softest "yeah the jailer was badly explained I guess"

This hurts worse than Shadowlands because while it may not be as bad, the Leveling Campaign had signs but it was ultimately, good. It was better than TWW until the end game MSQ. This is their hope, their vision, the story they want to tell. They want to tell a bad story.

Or maybe they think making the alliance-coded paladins magically corrupted to become zealots is enough faction conflict, since fanatical zealots would never exist otherwise. :)

Blizzard’s gonna either double down on the ‘war = bad’ cozy‑craft by continuing scolding anyone who wants internal conflict, or swing hard the other way and make the Horde monsters again, then go ‘I thought you liked conflict’ when people hate it.

Stream‑of‑consciousness rant: WoW always funnels worldbuilding and characterization to the Alliance, while the Horde keeps losing characters, getting sabotaged, and nobody seems interested in fixing their appeal. Which feeds into itself by making writers write more Alliance POV.
