I appreciate it immensely, and it's the least I can do captain🫡 But yeah, eventually the game rewards hyper-offense once you start killing every enemy in a single turn, and by that point anything resembling balance is thrown out the window (in a good way, mind you*)

@TpilmsTM @edmundmcmillen Yeah, I think the fight is interesting when it plays *as intended* where you always win the speed-tie, but I'll shamelessly admit that on my final runs I always backed up a save before entering the area because hoping the enemy AI is stupid and/or lowrolls isn't a viable strategy

@DaveyGunfaceIV @edmundmcmillen I like how the first phase on hard mode with a singular speed elite buff they can wipe out my team which is really great. I'm dying for a balance patch

@edmundmcmillen I'm okay with the final boss being hard, maybe even impossible if you're really unlucky, but some of my final runs abruptly ended with "oops, looks like the enemy rolled a speed buff / debuff, GG!". That's just blatantly unfun in a way I do not believe was intentional?

@edmundmcmillen So after 107%ing the game, the biggest pain point is the first phase of the final boss. Specifically on the harder difficulties with champion buffs, it is the only boss in the game that punishes you for playing well and will regularly OTK you with zero counterplay opportunities

@Mateeazz @_b4d0m3n Yeahhh, with DNA multiplier it's the most broken ability in the game because it multiplies the stat increases / decreases, but without it (or a reliable method to cleanse debuffs) the ability sadly isn't great :/

@DaveyGunfaceIV @_b4d0m3n oh damn, i think the only way my strat works its because it multiplies the base value of both, so when they're different, it doesn't work too well

tried this loadout with invert and oh my God.

@Mateeazz @_b4d0m3n There is a niche case for it if you have DNA multiplier, access to 100% accuracy and your other lowest stat is imperative to scale (usually charisma and intelligence are your biggest limiters), but that's so many "ifs" that you're generally better running a different item

@Mateeazz @_b4d0m3n Sadly nah, if you're in a scenario where you have -99 luck and your highest stat is 12 (let's say dexterity for example), you don't get 99 dexterity, you get -99 dexterity and 12 luck. You're not inverting the value of the stats, you're inverting your highest / lowest stat

@azurewrath2222 Get a Mind Stone to reduce collarless spells by two (down to one), get any self-buff to charisma and intelligence, or in this case Soothing Glow which gives you a +1 to any stat, throw in some extra charge items or a Two of Spades to multicast, scale exponentially

@ConfessionsMew Collarless cats experience an utterly bizarre power spike once you start reaching the end-game though, with such a limited pool of potential abilities you can itemize your cats to create unholy monstrosities like this fairly consistently

@sayrting @KasliKasliKasli @TylerGlaiel If you can make sure to do some Collarless runs to unlock Skill Share too, not only is it borderline game-breaking in combat but I also believe it's the only ability that directly influences breeding, so it's definitely worth grabbing

@50K4l @KasliKasliKasli @TylerGlaiel I'd say if you roll multiple Jester collars its worth it to run two or three, if you're pushing into Act 3 and are actively micromanaging your cats there shouldn't be much in Act 1 that could potentially wall you

@KasliKasliKasli @TylerGlaiel It's decently rare, although thanks to the Jester having innate rerolls if you just spam Alley runs I'd imagine it wouldn't take tooooo long to find? Then if you have that cat Genghis Khan an entire lineage you're pretty much set

@KasliKasliKasli @TylerGlaiel Yep! I straight up have it on every cat now, it gives you a free turn every round (or two free turns every round for the upgraded version) and breaking the games action economy by having twelve turns before the enemy gets one is realllllly good

@dee_of_e @franknsimmons If you can max it out by stacking a party to carry the floor inspector, Cancer can actually result in a massive power spike that'll persevere for entire generations Even if you low roll it's a massive net gain of stats at worst, if you high roll you just win the game really

@franknsimmons @dee_of_e I've found that the optimal way to play the late game is to go all in on stimulation and incest with every offspring suffering from perpetually worsening mutations until you start to wonder if the living Ships of Theseus can even be identified as "cats" anymore, so yeah.

@dee_of_e I find it hard to read the eugenics stuff as anything but making fun of that world-view, I might not be far enough in to have found anything explicitly problematic, but I'm man enough to admit that I do, at least, find the poop and fart humor funny, sorry not sorry.
