Jim Hacker: Humphrey, I'm told there's a situation at Diego Garcia. Sir Humphrey Appleby: Only geographically, Prime Minister. Jim Hacker: Geographically? Sir Humphrey Appleby: Yes. It's still in the Indian Ocean. Jim Hacker: Humphrey, Iran fired missiles at it! Sir Humphrey Appleby: Towards it, Prime Minister. Jim Hacker: Towards it? Sir Humphrey Appleby: One missile ceased to function and the other was intercepted. So the island remains entirely where it was. Jim Hacker: I'm not worried about the island moving! I mean the implications. Sir Humphrey Appleby: Ah. Strategically speaking, the implications are extremely stable. Jim Hacker: Stable?! Sir Humphrey Appleby: Yes. Since nothing actually hit us, we can express grave concern without the administrative complications of retaliation. Jim Hacker: But the base is on British territory! Sir Humphrey Appleby: Indeed, Prime Minister. Which means we are in the enviable position of being attacked in principle while remaining uninvolved in practice. Bernard Woolley: It's what the Foreign Office calls a very tidy situation, Prime Minister. Jim Hacker: Tidy? Sir Humphrey Appleby: Yes. Untidy situations are the ones where the missiles land.

Just sent this ridiculous Martin Samuel grab to the @ManCity exec with the note: "He's a smart journalist, they write this stuff because I would estimate the Sunday Times has between 10 and 20 times as many Arsenal fan readers as us. They include the vast majority of the London advertising market demographic. We are outsiders, we will always be, see you at Wembley."

Sadly, young Donald’s brilliant military career was interrupted by the unfortunate outbreak of the Vietnam War.

With my Mrs still fighting for her life in Wythenshawe ICU, the 90 Minutes escape watching City is a godsend to me, not been to a game since before this happened, but have caught most on TV or just following the game, I would relegate us to non league, just to get her home though 💙

Not a great week for the hospitality industry in Cornwall. St Austell brewery announced 4 pub closures and Sharps brewery of Rock, famed for its Doom Bar ale, is closing down.

Spent a lot of time in the newer Monkey House when I was little in the 60s (yes haha!) We lived near BV, it was a default trip out for a couple of hours with grandad. I loved it. Mostly I loved spending time with him. So many funny stories come flooding back seeing this 😊❤️

The Monkey House at Belle Vue Zoological Gardens, Manchester in 1900. On the site of what was Belle Vue Prison. Now housing when the Gardens went in the early 1980s. #Manchester #History #HistoryMatters
