The Administration released its FY27 budget today with a 30% cut to international affairs programs—coming on the heels of Congress's bipartisan National Security & State Department Appropriations bill just weeks ago.  Members on both sides of the aisle understand that strategic investments in diplomacy and international assistance are how America competes and wins in the world.    Read my statement here: usglc.org/newsroom/usglc…

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Bobby Weir. We send him off the way he sent so many of us on our way: with a farewell that isn’t an ending, but a blessing.  A reward for a life worth livin'. bobweir.net/bobby/ 📸 Chloe Weir

My analysis published in @the_hindu on the increasing cost of studying in the US for Indian students. Using the @CollegeBoard data, the analysis shows that out-of-state tuition at a public university and living expenses are up from nearly ₹27 lakhs in 2020/21 to approximately ₹37 lakhs in 2024/25--an increase of the annual budget of about ₹10 lakhs (~US$ 11,000) in just five years. With Foreign Higher Education Institutions (FHEIs) or international branch campuses (IBCs) launching in India, new affordable pathways at nearly half the tuition cost and living expenses of studying overseas are emerging.

After two years in a row of declines in new international students, the post-Covid enrollment boom looks, in hindsight, like a bubble. An unfriendly political climate contributed to an estimated 17-percent drop in new enrollments in the U.S. this fall chronicle.com/newsletter/lat…

New international enrollments dropped 7 percent LAST fall. Don’t dismiss the adverse effects of Trump administration policies like visa revocations or a foreign-student cap. But they’re compounding existing challenges, not the sole cause. chronicle.com/article/intern…

Studying in the US got lot more expensive for Indian students. In the last five years, the annual cost of studying in the U.S. increased by ~INR 10 lakh (adjusted for currency depreciation). This "sticker shock" will further suppresses the demand already affected by unfavorable #immigration and #visa policies enacted in 2025. linkedin.com/feed/update/ur… #HigherEducation

Study abroad improves communication skills but perhaps not the ones you’d think: in a survey of alumni, 85 percent said they picked up “communication and interpersonal skills” while 59 percent said they gained foreign-language skills
