The holiday spirit came alive yesterday at King's Wharf Theatre for the Opening of A Christmas Carol: The Panto! This classic story is reimagined with all the hilarious and beloved antics of an old-fashioned panto: villains, heroes, a dame, incredible music, lively dancing, audience participation, and of course, a dash of theatrical magic. When the curmudgeonly Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by three ghosts on Christmas Eve, he embarks on a life-changing adventure to learn the error of his ways, restore his spirit, and embrace the season. Now until November 23 only!

Today marks Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day is intended to honour the lost children and Survivors of residential schools, their families, and communities. Public commemoration of the ongoing impacts of residential schools is an essential component of the reconciliation process. It is also intended as a day for taking meaningful action, as reconciliation is an ongoing, lifelong process. Community integrity has always been a pillar of Drayton Entertainment’s mission statement, and as the Drayton Entertainment Youth Academy operates in support of this commitment, we would like to make the following announcement: As of today, (September 30, 2024), ALL interested Indigenous Youth under the age of 18 will receive FREE TUITION to all Youth Academy training programs. As we continue to grow, learn, reflect and engage in meaningful conversation surrounding Canada’s history of oppressing Indigenous people, we offer this action as a step towards empowering the next generation through arts education – especially to those who are affected and who are healing. Drayton Entertainment believes in a culture of continuous improvement and learning, as this is how we harness our untapped potential. We are always looking for ways in which we can challenge ourselves to do – and be – better. This includes thoughtfully responding to, and changing with, the world around us. It is our hope that this step will help towards creating a more inclusive and compassionate society, while also helping to foster greater understanding, partnership, and inclusion within the communities where Drayton Entertainment operates.
