We’ve just concluded Plenary Session 5 of #eSPACEHF2025, chaired by Dr. William Abraham and Prof. Mitja Lainscak. Prof. Biykem Bozkurt highlighted the higher risk of sudden cardiac death in real-world HF patients and emphasized that ICD implantation reduces all-cause mortality in primary prevention recipients on contemporary GDMT. Dr. David Duncker discussed the role of wearable cardioverter-defibrillators and strategies to avoid untimely ICD implantation. Dr. Carsten Israel shared data on prevention of sudden cardiac death in HFrEF with optimized pharmacologic therapy. Prof. Michael Böhm presented insights on myocardial oxygen consumption and blood flow in severe cardiomyopathy with left bundle branch block. Prof. David Duncker provided practical approaches for rhythm management in HF patients.
