Changes are coming for @Sixers after another disappointing season. I'm told by sources #Sixers organization having serious discussions to fire/replace Daryl Morey, President of Basketball Operations. His record since being hired by 76ers in 2020 has not been good enough to make it past 2nd Round of #NBAPlayoffs. Terrible track record of Draft Picks, Trades, and signings. Organization feels a change needs to be made.

Marsh won't bat .350 all year, but he's clearly made a huge developmental leap. Should be an All-Star this year and the Phillies would be wise to start talking extension.

It's early, but the Phillies have two clear frontrunners for NL MVP on their roster right now.
Zero reason to not aggressively attempt to contend this season.

This gives the Sixers FO too much credit imo.
Feels like their main and only goal this year was "duck the tax."
Hard to give them credit for stockpiling a bunch of low-value draft assets.

Sixers prioritized draft assets and haven't invested anything in winning with the current group in a year and a half—and still beat Boston. You might not like the stealth rebuild plan, but from that perspective this season was definitely a success

It's very difficult to find actual minor league velocity numbers, but I certainly recall the dialogue pre-injury being that he was expected to be a 100mph arm.

@D_lowww @DavidEsser_ He was sitting like 99/100 before TJS. I remember seeing an interview where JT, after catching a bullpen with Painter, said he could sit 101/102 if he kept on developing. That was before he got injured.

@DavidEsser_ He maybe hit 101 once and he certainly wasn’t rattling off triple digit pitches at such a high volume. Misiorowski is a freak rattling off 103 ten times in one inning. Also like I said the speed isn’t the main reason Painter’s fastball was effective.

@racketman45 I'm not sure the point you're trying to make. He was a high school draft pick, it's common for a player that young's velo to start with variance and climb toward their actually ceiling as they get older/stronger.
He was always projected as a high-velo pitcher, not a ~96 arm

@DavidEsser_ Yeah that’s not how we measure velo man. If we’re assuming he was hitting 100-101 with the same average, that assumes he was also throwing what 92-93 at times? That just sounds unsustainable to me, that much variance would be terrible

Painter sat 96.7 in 2022 (pre UCL injury) and is at 96.5 now. No idea where this 99-100 thing is coming from but the only thing it seems to be doing is adding bad information to an already misinformed fanbase. The problem is the IVB drop from 17.9” to 16.4”, causing less whiff

My biggest concern in the offseason with Painter was always the velocity stuff. He's averaging 96.5 on his fastball right now, which looks great on paper. But pre-injury he was a 99/100 guy. That's a big drop for a fastball-first arm.

@DavidEsser_ No Painter was throwing like 98 pre injury but it also had a lot of ride through the zone which made it dominant. Lost a little speed and mostly importantly the movement of the fastball after the TJ
