While we are proud and thankful that Democrats in Texas were able to defeat this bill for now, we know that Republicans will not stop. Republicans know that the only way they can win is to cheat, and that's exactly what they're trying to do.

The bill in Texas has some of the worst anti-voter measures in the country. What they’ve come up with has got my blood boiling. And they tried to jam it through in the middle of the night during Memorial Day weekend.

The efforts that we see from the Republican Party to suppress the vote are an assault on our democracy. Republicans are intent on taking away your freedom to vote. This is Jim Crow 2.0, plain and simple.

This level of violence in our city is an outrage. Public safety is the number one responsibility of government. Louisville, we can do so much better.

When Mayor Fischer was elected Mayor, Louisville had 48 Homicides. From January 2020 and ending the month of May 2021, Louisville has experienced 247 Homicides. Over the past 17 months, 1,103 Louisville citizens have been shot.
