In grad school I was taught about something called hybrid opinion-dynamics and have the math behind it stuffed somewhere in my hybrid dynamical systems text book in case it ever became relevant. The scary thing is that the model fits all of the mathematical criteria for controllability. Just learning about it was disturbing but watching it being applied at full force is mind blowing. A lot of what different people think is going on in the world and how vastly their sets of facts and realities differ makes sense given the advanced modeling (and thus controls) we now have available. As a controls engineer I find it ethically bankrupt that this math is being used as a weapon against the public to bring about some result, which is precisely what's happening.
