I think human arrogance is one of the most interesting paradoxes of all time. We pride ourselves on our intelligence, yet that intelligence is exactly what severs us from the natural world. We worship invisible gods while simultaneously destroying the only habitable planet we know of. Which is also our home. True intelligence, I feel, is directed towards unity with nature. Something that brings us closer to our shared oneness and fosters compassion. It’s a transcendence of the illusion of separation that divides us and foments fear, hatred, greed and cruelty. The prevailing form of ‘intelligence’ on this planet is actually just self-devastation with the ability to rationalize away the indelible harm it causes. It’s the highest form of stupidity because it falsely believes it is wise and silences (often violently) the truly wise.
