@funky_fresh_max@DavidMann666@zackdfilms1 You can use strong water pump and pump it with water that approaches. If it is not levee breach, water usually comes slowly, enough time to catch some of it with those strong pumps and fill that thing up.
@funky_fresh_max@zackdfilms1 I agree with your point but I really don't think that a few hours to fill 15+ tons is realistic at all without a handy fire hydrant to use. A decent domestic water supply gives you about 2 gallons per minute at the faucet. The math doesn't even begin to add up.
@DavidMann666@zackdfilms1 I think i'd rather spend a few hours filling this up with water then thousands of dollars on home repairs and replacing damaged things. I mean the water bill would be high as fuck but still might be cheaper
@oaksandlions Incredible to think that this was built 500 years ago at the height of the Renaissance, at least two centuries before the dawn of mechanisation in the Industrial Revolution.
Just how...?
The magnificent ceiling of Henry VII’s Chapel in Westminster Abbey is carved entirely from stone.
Completed in 1519, it is one of the finest examples of English Gothic ever built.
• Fan vaulting carved with near-perfect symmetry.
• Pendant bosses hanging from the ceiling, some weighing several tonnes.
• No steel reinforcement, only stone and geometry.
It is not just beautiful.
It is mathematics in stone.
Have you been lucky enough to see this in person?

Ashley's sixth meal of the day is a large portion of fried corn and a full plate of stake, and it's just an appetiser. Her 5-year-old son is left with the responsibility of taking care of her when her husband goes to work.
@disclosetv Yep, as soon as we can find a warship that actually works and enough crew, then we'll be straight over to deliver some harsh words. Well maybe not too harsh, we wouldn't want to give the impression that we have any clout on the world stage anymore. So just jolly well look out...
NOW - UK Defense secretary says 3 Russian submarines were in UK waters, "To President Putin I say, we see you, we see your activity over our cables and our pipelines, and you should know that any attempt to damage them will not be tolerated and will have serious consequences."
@Tedisiek Yeah my old Landrover used to run just fine on that, but I had to keep it to a 50% mix or people started smelling it and asking if I was running on paraffin. Not a good idea to advertise it too blatantly!
Top tip. Really old diesel cars actually can run on nearly 100% heating oil.
Just saying and wouldn’t recommend it because it’s illegal.
They can though.
You do need to put some diesel in occasionally to lubricate seals but most pre 2008 stuff will happily run on the stuff.
My friend says it burns much cleaner too.
@Gamer187Play@Tedisiek Friend of mine used to make his own biodiesel from chip oil and occasionally had dogs hanging around his tailpipe!
On one occasion he scored some oil from a doughnut stand. Most delicious emissions I've ever smelt!
@Tedisiek A mate of mine used to run his land rover on chip shop oil, smelt genuinely delicious. Second only to 2 stroke smell I’d say with 4 stroke petrol running without a cat 3rd.
Yeah I probably give smells a bit too much merit but I do love a good smell. Old diesels are ace.
@know2whyi1ft@deadend_king Yep, and it's guaranteed to be the last one, just when you thought the job was going well and you'd be done in 5 minutes, not two more hours of cursing and sweating!
@bolderston_mark Can't really comment on the car generally, but on the one occasion I got to try one out I got wheelspin in 3rd gear, so I guess the power of that Chrysler hemi isn't in question...
Yep, sounds very familiar. First proper job in 1985, junior clerk, £48 per week. That improved quickly enough to rent a great flat in a converted mansion at £100pm. Bought a 'bargain' Jag XJ6 for £180, it ran for 20 miles and then got scrapped! Tried again and bought a more sensible Capri for £60. Bought my first house for £31k a few years later. Took a 2 week holiday to the US, did all the things that young people generally did, and didn't feel like anything was a struggle.
We had no idea at the time that the 80s and 90s would turn out in hindsight to be the best times we'd have. It just seemed like life would continue as normal that way forever. If only...
It's 1985 and I've just started work. My first month's salary was £160.
I worked shifts in a freight office in Dover. A few months later I passed my driving test and bought a cheap car for a few hundred pounds. I put some money to one side and went on holiday for a week. I'd occasionally buy games for my ZX Spectrum and go to the pub with my mates, to have a good night with just £20.
Then, one day, I left my job and got another one. It paid more and now I worked regular office hours. I upgraded my car and went on holiday again.
Exciting times. Carefree times. And I've only got 2 'O' Levels - grade D!
I'm glad to have been part of that era, for it was the best. I wouldn't want to be young today, and looking for a job.
And what we had then is gone for good.
I've only ever seen one of these beauties outside of a museum, about 30 years ago in the early hours of the morning on the M1. It was torrential rain and I was doing probably 70mph but he flew past me in the fast lane, open to the elements, goggles on.
It felt almost surreal, like something out of an old painting. That guy was certainly living a life!
I'm 98% sure this is a Bentley 4.5 litre, which if true makes it my 4th one too! It's been 9 months since my last vintage Bentley find and I'm so happy the wait is over. Unfortunately though this is the only view of it.
