Red 40 food dye linked to DNA damage and pregnancy complications in new university study! 🚨 🚨🚨 Professor Lorne Hofseth's research out of University of South Carolina reveals Red 40 food dye, found in 70% of ultraprocessed grocery store foods being pushed to our children, causes significant health concerns including inflammation, DNA damage, and microbiome disruption in recent animal studies. Researchers gave mice human dose equivalent levels of Red 40 for nine months, discovering it triggered inflammation, microbiome dysbiosis, and DNA damage. What's even more alarming is the Red 40 gets metabolized by gut bacteria into potentially even more dangerous carcinogenic compounds that may cause greater DNA damage than the original dye itself that the public is eating on a DAILY BASIS! Focused studies on pregnant mice showed their babies did not survive after Red 40 exposure, suggesting potential birth defect causing effects. The research team plans follow up on more studies to confirm these reproductive toxicity findings. Red 40 is the most common of nine FDA-approved synthetic food dyes, making these findings particularly significant given its widespread use in colorful packaged foods throughout grocery stores.
