One of the biggest coping mechanisms among students in public universities is the belief that “a first class in private universities is not the same as that of public universities,” and that a first class in a private university is equivalent to a 2:1 in a public university. It’s simply a way to make themselves feel better. Whether you like it or not, a first class is the same everywhere in the world. A student who graduates with a first class from a private university can replicate that in any public university. There is nothing inherently special about the one obtained in public schools. I know the rebuttal will be about the quality of education and how strict lecturers in public schools are, especially when it comes to awarding distinctions (A) to those who deserve them. We cannot ignore the educational shortcomings in that regard; however, my point still stands, and I did not stutter: a first class is a first class anywhere in the world. If you can achieve it in a private school, you can also achieve it in a public school.
