If you count ribs on neonatal CXR, how do you count them? Not as easy as you may think. This one is simple - what's the answer?

Does the diaphragm have to transect the rib, wholly be within the rib, Just be above or below it? What if it crosses multiple ribs as in the following?

Posterior vs anterior portion of the ribs. I think we use more than rib number to decide adequate aeration but often quote the rib count to back up our assertion.
