System Upgrade!
Just to note we’re carrying out a system upgrade just now , so the website will be temporarily unavailable for around 2 hours. The downtime may be slightly shorter or longer depending on progress. We’ll have everything back up as quickly as possible :)
@DavidWi74115164@MarkKeenan5@David__Osland Sure - but thats pedants corner.
Pensions are great - firstly to get one you have to have worked for 50 (?) years and paid your NI contributions and therefore been a tax paying citizen. You then spend that money which again helps the economy.
When I started paying National Insurance contributions in 1976, the deal was that I'd get a pension providing for a basic standard of living in a then-unimaginable 50 years' time. But now I've finally got there, it's just half the minimum wage.
@groomyd@MarkKeenan5@David__Osland Because it's legally a benefit. Like literally in the legislation.
Even non govt stuff that looks at benefit 'usage'/receipt percentages include State Pension. So it's not some new thing, it's long term ignorance about what SP is.

@FilmUpdates Sorry but this is poorly worded, and could mean a) only international audience gets IMAX or b) international audience only gets IMAX.
The first screws US audiences out of IMAX, the second limits where the rest of the world can watch the film (IMAX screen needed).
Which is it?
@DanDanLock@WPJoseph@JK12___@MagicianDarts Rushed typo. Was gonna say 4 to leave 40. Double would have been 36.
But, he didn't go 4. He didn't want to leave tops. So clearly not a tops 10s 5s kinda guy. Tell me again why it's *100%* he went double 10?
I can see the more obvious route. Just reckon both are plausible.
@JK12___@MagicianDarts I'd have said that. 12 for d16, misses. Leaves 20, goes for 6 and 14 (7s is next to 16s), misses and leaves 8.
If he'd gone 4 and hit double, 40 would be left. 12 and 6 makes no sense.
If he'd gone 6, he'd have chosen d19. Highly unlikely. But hitting d6, he'd be on 16s.
@IbrahimSidow7@UtdXclusive Martinez, for starters. And most Spanish and Portuguese players can understand each other, so I assume Cunha, Bruno etc. can understand it (though speaking English would work too).
🚨 NEW: Sources describe the strong dynamic between the backroom staff, built on a good blend of skillsets and personalities.
Carrick and Holland are very hands-on in training, and there is more focus on individual work with the players than there was under Amorim.
Woodgate whose ability to speak Spanish from his days at Real Madrid can come in handy.
Evans was the brains behind Bryan Mbeumo scoring from a clever corner routine against Tottenham.

🗣️ Vinnie Jones: “The first thing I told him when I got near him was that I wouldn’t be playing any football and neither would he."
🗣️ Paul Gascoigne: “That picture sums up my career and Vinnie’s in one go — talent and madness. He was terrifying. Not because he was dirty — because he enjoyed it.”
📅 On this day, 38 years ago, Vinnie Jones and Paul Gascoigne created one of the most iconic images in British football history. 📸
@radicaldadd@pauliegeronimo@WW_Direct Think the point is modern, and CGI-heavy, seasons aren't annual things anymore. 7-8 seasons is like a decade if you're incredibly lucky, or 12+ if not. Look at GoT from start to finish, or even Stranger Things. He'll 99% be into his 90s when this wraps up
John Lithgow thinks it's ‘“insane” that he signed an eight-year contract for the HARRY POTTER TV series, given that he is 80 years old
"Dumbledore is a beautiful role. There’s so much more to it than I even realized, mainly because of these people who are creating the series."
"J.K. Rowling has created this amazing canon for young people, young kids’ literature that has jumped into the consciousness of society. Young and old people love Harry Potter and the Harry Potter stories. It’s so much about acceptance. It’s about good versus evil. It’s about kindness versus cruelty. It’s deeply felt."
@TeawithTolkien My 19 yo started reading the series to my 9 year old. He does the best voices for all the characters. So good, I’m not allowed to read the books to her. He’s away at college now and she eagerly awaits his visits home to read to her.
@EricQb66qb2025@sw_holocron Rushed animation is not live action. It's a fundamental difference in what's involved in creating a scene, let alone an episode, much less multiple episodes.
THE ACOLYTE creator Leslye Headland confirms The Stranger was intended to be the first Knight of Ren.
“It was in the design of the character, as well as knowing that we were going to introduce Darth Plagueis, who has to end up with Palpatine as his apprentice. Following the Rule of Two – a precept that limited the Sith to just two at any given time, a master and an apprentice – one way to keep it going is if the Stranger is the first knight of Ren, part of a Sith-adjacent culture that we know eventually survives.”
