UAB started a new QB Today, Ryder Burton! Burton is a transfer from West Virginia and BYU. Burton's stat line was 20 for 27, 251 Yards, 3 TDs, and 1 int. Coaches will always be fired when they're not playing the best players on their roster. Congrats to Burton and UAB!

In his first season as a full-time starter, Garrett Greene proved to be a dynamic impact player for the Mountaineer offense, leading @WVUFootball to a 9-win season for the first time since 2016.  🗻Greene emerged as one of the best dual threat QBs in the country, and his athleticism has even prompted scouts to be curious about his ability as a receiver as well as a quarterback. But Greene has shown plenty as a QB so far to be one of college football’s most impressive passers and an NFL prospect at quarterback. 💪@Garrett3Greene played with consistent precision, leading the NCAA in BTT% (Big Time Throw) at a 10.2% clip (per @PFF_College), and his ability to be aggressive downfield, especially on the move, makes him so 🦵And of course, he offers high-end quarterback mobility: He totaled 772 yards and 13 rushing TDs, including FOUR 100-yard rushing games, and was only sacked 4 times in 350 dropbacks in 2023. He plays efficiently in and out of the pocket and has big play ability with his legs too. Heading into his second season as the starter, Greene's ability to protect the ball AND be a dynamic playmaker in 2024 could make him one of the most unique playmakers in the country. And West Virginia is one of the sleeper teams in the country: don’t be surprised if @NealBrown_WVU has this team very much in the @Big12Conference title hunt again, and maybe beyond, all year long. #ShrineBowlWhosNext

West Virginia typically hasn't played with big 6-foot corners but that's exactly what they got in portal this offseason in former Northwestern transfer Garnett Hollis Jr. (6004v, 201v, 31 1/4 arm, 8 1/4 hand). What is @WVUfootball getting in Hollis? Simple answer is someone with requisite physical traits to matchup against the best perimeter receivers in Big 12, which has been an issue for WVU in recent years. A couple agents put Hollis on @seniorbowl radar last fall when he was considering coming out for 2024 draft and he eventually played his way into a mid-Day 3 draftable grade for us. Early tape was shaky with too many eye violations and missed tackles but Hollis played more dialed-in & physical as season wore on and he was noticeably playing with more confidence in later views. Hollis is at his best in press-man where he can use his length & strength to disrupt at the LOS--good 🎥 clip of that here👇--and he'll be fast enough (high-4.4 estimate based off tape) to run with almost every receiver on their schedule this year. #TheDraftStartsInMOBILE™️
