Its funny to joke about it but World Cup really isn't the same without Italy. Second most successful nation in history missing 3 straight tournaments is insane. They give another dimension to WC when they are there. So many iconic italian teams throughout different generations..

Italy is the new Hungary post 1950s. Expect them to play well in nations league & euros, to have a world class player or 2, they will even qualify for a World Cup again eventually. But their time as a football powerhouse and World Cup regulars is over

At this point, missing this many World Cups in a row should almost be considered a removal of a star on your badge. Italy should not be seen as a great footballing nation right now. It’s quite frankly embarrassing they’ve missed out on an expanded World Cup.
