Fernando needs a breather. He’s so lost! Whoever had him start the season with a closed stance and selling out to hitting oppo should be banned from ever advising him. Liken it to Campusano’s coming into the season with that gawd awful stance.

@PadresHMA @jonschaeffer @DevineGospel He’s a relentless worker. Someone made a hitting suggestion that was not for him. It changed his mechanics entirely from WBC to start of regular season. Sometimes by trying to improve you take the wrong path, advice and end up with worse results

@annieheilbrunn If he gets back to his old swing and approach it’s still 30 hrs from here. It could take a few more weeks but I hope to see the old swing AND approach

I, for one, have been waiting for Tatis Jr to bat leadoff again. (Yes, I know his numbers this season. Still think it’s worth a shot.)

@ontheroadAH @RockyBinkowski I’m positing a theory on the struggles as the approach has changed dramatically. Tatis, Merrill and Mannybut others are in the worst slump of their career too, Crone, Fermin. You can have all the skill but take the wrong advice or approach and it can dramatically affect results

@DayPadres @RockyBinkowski Others have vouched for him. If you want a new hitting coach that’s fine. We get one every few years. Best year we had was when we had no hitting coach. I’m just saying at what point do you say manny is responsible for manny. Could be Tati and Manny have other advice.

@DayPadres @RockyBinkowski Nick Castellanos just said how hard Souza works with them. He said he hates it when fans blame the hitting coach. It’s up to the player to take the information and make the adjustments.

@DayPadres @RockyBinkowski I’d say manny needs to make himself better. Coaches offer advice. Players know their body and ability. Also could manny or Tati be injured? They would never say they were until it became obvious.

@ontheroadAH @RockyBinkowski I would say the other way around. Great for those guys but it’s the stars that ultimately will drive this team. So the hitting coach needs to make the stars better

@RockyBinkowski @DayPadres Hitting is the hardest thing in bb imo. Who knows Souza and what work he is putting in with the guys? Seems it’s good for Duran, Sheets, Castellanos and Andujar. The stars other than Xander have to adjust.
