@danielthemate Not enough. The should put the blurred slur as the picture for the article and make the blue a black or white box instead of a camouflaged blur. Or at the very leave put text in the image saying slurs were omitted. They also failed to put edit notes at the bottom of the article

@robot_slug @RachelMoiselle @danielthemate I disagree. The article and images are so misleading it borders on deliberate. The blur choice makes it hard to see. It could have been a black or white box to make it clear there’s something there.

I don’t mean that as a cheap dig—those who can’t understand the obvious meaning of a text or infer from context probably can’t read anything of significant length.

The reporting on the latest antisemitic graffiti incident in Ireland (the 11th in that particular area), by both our national broadcaster and the news outlet below, has incomprehensibly censored the offending words. They have reported that the antisemitic graffiti contains the Star of David and the word Jews, without clarifying that there is a censored word before Jews that almost certainly is the f word.

Irish media are now on full censor mode trying to hide what antisemitic graffiti actually says. You can see a word is censored and instead of doing their actual jobs and reporting, they obfuscate the truth. This results in entirely predictable comments of people downplaying the hatred on display. @rtenews and @LMFMRADIO , you are fueling antisemitism with your obfuscation.

I've come to a realisation in the last few weeks regarding antisemitism and why I and many others talk about it so much despite our efforts persuading very few people, especially in the context of Ireland. It's increasingly obvious that the efforts won't stop the direction it's going, this is largely out of our control, but what we are doing is setting the record straight for the history books, even if it's just read by us. Will pointing out that shatter did not meet Epstein stop every Jew hater from trying their best to portray Jews with whatever slur they think can stick? No. But if we didn't, then the truth wouldn't be found, told or written down. Will pointing out that Kneecap promotes antisemitic material convince most Irish people Kneecap are full of hate? No. But we will always have the knowledge that we were sounding the alarm for a real reason. We throw our voice out to the world, stress testing it in the process, because if we didn't then our story will essentially not exist in the real world. Our efforts won't result in much lower antisemitism, in some isolated instances it might even make it worse. But our current story is as real as our history, and that is worth defending.
