@KevSheedy @LaceyDermot It is way too low. And it doesn't end up contributing much of consequence to DCC's budget..the biggest unblocker there would be to get central govt to allocate more funds and more autonomy to the council.
English

@LaceyDermot Current LPT vs Property value.
€350,000 homeowner pays €267
€1,225,000 homeowner pays €1,197
Seems like a progressive and fair way of paying for public housing, roads, street cleaning, public realm improvements etc

English

@ciardubhain_o Marcus, this is a kind of a cartoonish and overly dramatic take. Socdems councillors have worked extremely well with the greens on the council and always voted for the upper LPT limits. A left leaning alliance would get more action on active travel, dereliction and affordable hsg
English

And just like SF, this is a policy flip flop for apparent political convenience 🧐 I don't accept the argument that 'you can't trust FFG' when you want to rely on known regressive SF:

I'm incredibly disappointed in @SocDems . They have abandoned their voters to prioritise wealth tax cuts for the rich over basic social services including those of kids.
How can I trust the party at Dáil level to deliver on what they promised, when they have failed in Dublin.🧵

@RobLooseCannon Went to see The Witches there years ago. There were empty seats here and there. People sat in them just before the show. During the play they took off face masks to reveal witch faces. Child in front of me became hysterical

The state of Irish democracy: in which the Minister for Housing can refuse to do the right thing but also refuse to allow councils to do the right thing either. @OCallaghanCian calls it out!

I am thrilled to welcome @HollyCairnsTD to Limerick again. We are inviting everyone to come and meet with her and the whole Limerick @SocDems team next Tuesday 2nd April at 7.30pm in No.1 Pery Square Hotel. We would love you to join us and hear our vision for Limerick 💚

@richardthewatts @KaeRae1646 @PantiBliss Don't argue with them Richard. They are just trying to get engagement. Probably a Russian bot or just a YouTube conspiracy theorist.

@ianto007 @LeftistFaggots Sydney is full of Irish people. Is that who you mean? Or is it only the ones with brown skin that you have a problem with? Surely you can't be that stupid and this is some game you're playing. You think that people are an issue because they come from a different country?
English

@LeftistFaggots Sydney and London are the same trust me You have to see it to believe it
English

@noelkelly @LeftistFaggots Maybe a cap on those with a low iq?
Oh no wait the Nazis did that in Germany. They had a cap on foreigners and a cap on disabled people and a cap on the queers. They murdered them. Is that where you want to head?
English

@LeftistFaggots 100% Mike. We can't become a minority in our own country. In a sane country you'd have a cap on the percentage of non-irish. 5% max.
Maybe that's too high.
English

@Bobmansback @RosinMurphy Most people who are angry about people in tents are exactly the same people who have been out marching to end homelessness for years. We are in this situation because there were no social and affordable homes built. Affects everyone and using it to try to be racist is just mad.
English

@EmmBeeOhh @RosinMurphy @kerryforsam2024 @TinaMax8 They are not building affordable homes. Certainly in my area it's high-end build to rent apartments only. The government were pleased with 5 years ago to invest in apprenticeships and to encourage smaller developers and coops to scale affordable housing supply. They didn't.
