HE WENT TO WORK AND NEVER RETURNED HOME! This incident happened in the first week of May last month as I was returning from work that evening. It was not because his job was dangerous, but because safety was ignored. He climbed an electric pole to fix a fault because he was an electrician. However, no one was holding the ladder 🪜 for him on the ground. There was no teamwork. He probably thought it was just a small job. People passed by, looked, and kept going, not knowing that the pole was already shaking at the base. Suddenly, the pole snapped into two, the ladder slipped, and before anyone could shout, he came crashing down. The impact was so brutal that it caused a fatal neck injury, and he died instantly. No second chance. No last words. I even heard that his wedding was scheduled for that same May, but all hopes were shattered. The same people who had walked past now stood in shock. Kindly note that it was not village people, nor was it bad luck. It was pure negligence. No safety support. No proper equipment. No teamwork. No supervision. One preventable mistake ended a life in seconds. Please, when there is no PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE), there should be no work. Your life is worth more than any quick job, regardless of the pay involved.
