When suffering appears in the Gospel, the first instinct of the disciples is to assign blame. Jesus refuses that logic. Sometimes suffering exists "so that the works of God might be made visible" (Jn 9:3)

@JoshuaTCharles You should consider putting the Deacon at the right of the Priest (just like you have in the OT example), would be liturgically correct, and also make the comparison more clear. Otherwise some may think Levite = Priest, rather than Levite = Deacon.

@RichardRohrOFM “I have come not to abolish (the previous system) but to fulfill it.” Jesus completes the law, he doesn’t abrogate it. He’s God, not an activist. High correlation between activists and egoists.

Jesus was a radical reformer of religion, in large part because he showed no interest in maintaining purity systems or closed systems of any kind. They only appeal to the ego and lead no one to God. buff.ly/etzbR6W

NEW: Data shows conservative-leaning Christians who attend church weekly are the least likely to report a mental health diagnosis. The teachings of Jesus Christ will radically transform your life for the better.

Forgive me, but it seems obvious to me that a "monk mindset" means less monetized phone time in prayer, not more.

sometimes the reasons even defy logic and common sense... i met a woman once who told me she left the church because catholics have a corpus on the cross, that was it... i was incredulous but my incredulity made it none the less true... there are many reasons... some are about rationalizing (or denying) sin, some are due to being wounded by clergy (or other parishioners)... some may make no sense at all... we ought to be authentic witnesses and evangelize convincingly - and worry less about the rationale

If Catholicism isn’t a cult (I don’t think it is), then don’t act like you’re in a cult. This is spiritually abusive language. There are many reasons people leave the faith. A rejection of moral law often isn’t first; it comes after loss of trust in authority. Instead of attempting to broadly publicly shame and slander those who have left, perhaps find out what happened. And maybe you can’t because it’s not your place. Silence is an option.

@CatholicSOTC when people leave the faith its almost always about lifestyle of sin

The toxic trad Catholic manosphere is infecting young men and it’s wicked. I’ll tell you what it looks like in real life: Trad aesthetic with all the lingo but no depth. Talks TLM, smokes a pipe, lies, manipulates, and pushes for sex very quickly. Then… When rebuffed, whines on the internet about how horrible women are. Trad aesthetic is quickly becoming a red flag. And it’s not because the young women are feminists. It’s because they are Christians with self-respect and a moral compass.

"So if you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift." I prefer what Jesus said, your prayers and offerings don't mean anything if you don't have love comma and I'm pretty sure r@ping children goes against love...

lslamic preacher Mohammad H. "If you raped, killed people, were a terrorist, committed adultery, sold drugs, but you prayed, then according to Allah you are morally superior to someone who merely missed one single prayer." It’s not compatible with any culture!

How does St. Paul correct St. Peter in Galatians 2? How could Athanasius--then a mere deacon--contradict the priest Arius about the divinity of Christ? When someone is wrong, he's wrong, and pointing it out is a spiritual work of mercy that provides a service to others. We've been warned against clericalism. While we are expected to respect our priests, that does not mean being silent when they are saying something factually false and imposing burdens on others.

@WWUTTcom Is that the same Bible that was organized, codified, and infallibly canonized by the same church that teaches that Mary remained a virgin after Jesus was born?

Mary did not remain a virgin after Jesus was born, and saying so won't send you to hell. It's what the Bible says.

As Catholic leaders we need to have a conversation about the creep of nationalism, and it's various siblings - ethnic resentment, balkanization and conspiracy - into conservative Catholic circles. I'm seeing it crop up in a number of places. #Concerning.

This whole Lila/Pearl thing has revealed that a big chunk of online trad co. is a cover for the same degeneracy of the 'sexual revolution' that preceded it 60 years ago. It's all about getting off whenever you want. That's it. Make no mistake. It would logically follow then that many wives are being routinely assaulted with their own deformed consent.

Sadly, this is the most emasculated tweet I've ever seen.
