From December to February I was on the farm every day, working under the sun, digging the hard soil, believing the harvest would be worth the stress. The yam harvest wasn’t very encouraging, but the water yams came out clean, big, and in thousands. That alone gave me hope that by March–April I would at least make some money.
When school resumed in February, I travelled back to Makurdi to continue my degree. Things became financially difficult in school, so I called home and asked my family to sell some of the yams to support me.
Only for my father to get to the farm and discover that everything had been stolen overnight.
Months of sweat… gone.
Someone worked day and night on that land, hoping to feed his family and pay school fees, and in one night another human being decided to take it all.
How wicked can people be?
How do you steal another person’s sweat and still sleep at night?
