Presided over the official launch of the Annex Radiology Unit and Computed Tomography (CT) Scan Centre, equipped with a state-of-the-art 128-slice, 2025 model CT scanner under the National Equipment Service Program (NESP); a major step in bringing specialized care closer to communities under Kenya's Taifa Care Model. The advanced diagnostic unit is already improving efficiency, having served over 60 patients within a short period while significantly reducing turnaround time. Toured Bungoma County Referral Hospital, including the Mother and Child Centre and the Cancer and Palliative Care Unit, which are fully equipped to support maternal and newborn health and expand access to screening, diagnosis and palliative services. To accelerate progress towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC), plans are underway to establish regional cancer centres at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital and in Kisii County, aimed at decentralizing care and reducing referrals for specialized treatment. I was hosted by Bungoma County Governor H.E Kenneth Lusaka and joined by CEOs Dr. Mercy Mwangangi of the Social Health Authority and Eng Anthony Lenayara of the Digital Health Agency alongside Ministry and County officials.
