I ‘upgraded’ my insurance to BCBS in January and pay $1,700 a month for myself. To see my cardiologist (I’m a heart patient) I needed to see my PCP first. It is now May and I haven’t seen a doctor. First two PCPs refused to see me as they aren’t taking new patients. If I go see my cardiologist and get the scans he wants, insurance won’t cover it until I can convince a doctor I’ve never met to let me. BCBS has approved the $7000 scans, but require an APN to refer me. Our system is broken.
