Join Dean Karlan, Margaret Kruk, and Zaher Sahloul as they answer those questions and more on 4/8 in partnership with @UChicagoKiphart and in conjunction with @WHO's #WorldHealthDay. A reception will follow the program. bit.ly/4dvJ0hp

Today is World Health Day. The global holiday marks the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO) and brings attention to urgent public health concerns. For its 76th celebration, the WHO is recognizing the importance of scientific collaboration in protecting the health of people, animals, plants, and the planet. The Council is pleased to be partnering with @UChicagoKiphart to host @NorthwesternU’s @deankarlan, @washumedicine’s Margaret Kruk, and @MedGlobalOrg President @sahloul for a conversation on the state of global health leadership tomorrow evening, April 8. We invite you to join us in person or online. bit.ly/4dvJ0hp

The Graduation approach began as small pilots. Today, it has reached 6.7 million households across multiple countries, with impacts that last for years after. A decade after the pivotal study that showed Graduation's potential, the Partnership for Economic Inclusion has released a new survey on the global landscape of Graduation programs - explore the findings (PDF): bit.ly/3OmRzRn @BRACworld

.@deankarlan redefining paper highlights: "In a Blank Space of rural finance, new platforms quietly entered. Fearless farmers invest when digital credit is carefully tailored. But Out of the Woods we are not - lending seems best when swift."

Why does the US military run elementary schools? Is that mission creep? Unnecessary overhead? Waste? Nope. Soldiers have families, so to have an effective military, bases need schools. Could you pay for only guns and tanks, sure. Would you get the same outcome? Probably not.

The State Department's new America First Global Health Strategy is out, focused on providing smaller, more focused, and limited supplies to fight several infectious diseases. I have most of my thoughts over on the other place, but a couple below as well.
