Overtime allowances are not "non-essential" for essential workers. If they are, stop making staff work overtime. What a fucking insult during labour day. I hope the doctors and nurses strike.

The proposed budget cuts for the Health Ministry will only affect non-essential expenditure such as overseas travel, official functions and meetings, and overtime allowances. Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad gave an assurance that “essential healthcare services – including patient treatment, emergency care, all core essential services, as well as the supply of medicines and medical devices – will not face any reduction”. However, the ministry had already put in place cost-cutting measures in March, before the Finance Ministry directive to slash budgets.
