@ChristopherHale Foolishness
He clearly doesn’t understand how tech works
New tech gets used for both good and bad
No limits
If one company limits, another steps in to fill the vacuum
English

I told CNN today that Pope Leo XIV views Silicon Valley’s original sin as thinking they’re greater than God.
That’s why the first U.S.-born pontiff has called for a “disarmed” AI that cannot perpetrate war devoid of human conscience.
That’s why he wants to partner with Christopher Olah and @AntrophicAI, who courageously stood up to the Pentagon.
He wants to work together to build an AI that serves humanity.
English

@cwebbonline It’s a waste of time
They have had AI ethics boards for years and years
Nothing will come of this and it’s a shame your fooled by it
AI will be used for any use possible
Anthropic can’t stop it
else will step in with a similar model to take its place
English

THIS IS HUGE MORAL MOMENT…
Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, is focused on AI ethics, human dignity, labor displacement, and regulating artificial intelligence.
And the Vatican chose to partner with Anthropic, currently in a major legal fight with the Trump administration over AI safety and military use of its technology.
Anthropic has publicly resisted pressure around autonomous warfare systems and built its brand around AI safety and “constitutional AI.”
The Church is signaling that AI isn’t just a tech issue. It’s a moral, political, and civilization-level fight now.
English

Pope Leo called for disarming AI in his address after releasing his groundbreaking document "Magnifica Humanitas."
"Artificial intelligence needs to be disarmed," the pope said.
"The word is strong, I know, but deliberately chosen because this moment needs words capable of attracting attention, awakening consciences, and indicating paths forward for humanity. The church has long been working for nuclear disarmament, aware that every great technical power can affect people's lives and so must be accompanied by adequate moral discernment and public control."
"Nuclear disarmament remains a service to peace and the dignity of the human family. In a similar sense, artificial intelligence now demands to be disarmed, freed from logics that turn it into an instrument of domination, exclusion and death. Like nuclear energy, it must be at the service of all and of the common good. Decisions about technology must never be separated from conscience and responsibility. Let us not sleep as others do, admonished the apostle Paul. But let us keep awake. Such vigilance is necessary today. Peace, not merely the absence of war is justice at work, but when technology weakens our critical sense, peace itself is at risk," Pope Leo stressed.
"Disarming, however, is not enough. We must build," the pope stressed. "The word build reminds me of my years as a missionary in Peru. In 2017, torrential rains and floods struck the north of the country. Many families saw their homes swallowed by mud and many roads too. There, I learned that rebuilding does not mean simply replacing what has been destroyed. It means repairing bonds, restoring trust, and reawakening hope in the future."
Moreover, "no one rebuilds alone" in "Magnifica Humanitas," the pope said. "I recall the biblical prophet Nehemiah before the ruined walls of Jerusalem. He gathers discouraged people to bring about rebirth. The image of walls does not legitimize closures or divisions, but invites each and everyone to do their part. Brick by brick. A more just coexistence takes shape, capable of safeguarding the dignity of all."
The pope stressed that "Magnifica Humanitas was born from listening.
"I've listened to scientists and engineers who work with sincere enthusiasm and technologies capable of alleviating immense suffering; to political leaders and public officials who have perseveringly sought just rules; to parents and teachers who are deeply concerned for the future of younger generations."
"Other very troubling voices have also reached me about increasingly autonomous weapons systems, practically beyond any human reach to govern them effectively. I hear very troubling accounts of algorithms that can block access to health care, employment, and security on the basis of data tainted by prejudice and injustice. And I've heard the silence of those who have no voice."
"Artificial intelligence can be a construction site of history from within a horizon of communion, in which technical progress learns to serve human life," the pope said, stressing that "no one can be reduced to productivity, to cognitive performance, or to mere data."
"The person bears within him or herself a freedom, an interiority, and the vocation to love and worship that no machine can replace or block. Only with such an integral vision can artificial intelligence be directed toward the common good."
The Church, he said, "wishes with humility and frankness to be part of conversations on artificial intelligence. We do not possess the technical answers, nor do we seek to displace those with expertise. But we bring a wisdom concerning the human that our present time desperately needs."
"From this launch of Magnifica Humanitas, please take with you a commitment to stay awake and as artisans of hope, to keep on building the work site of our time."

@M_O_Gwhy Totally agree
I find it so challenging to hear, they say “I believe, but I don’t like to talk about it”
The old “no religion or politics”
As you said if someone finds the way to eternal life and they don’t share it with someone, can they truly say they love that person
English

This seems like that kind of shallow "belief" that Jordan Peterson talks about. Ik, cringe as his discussions about it can be, I see the point. It's a serious thing to claim that belief, as so many do, and to not act upon it, even worse because their parent is essentially saying this:
"I believe those who don't believe will perish. I'm not going to tell my kid about God, though."
What an uncaring, loveless, and, even, vain concept of "belief" those people have. You don't care whether your kids believe, and maybe end up perishing for their lack thereof?
Idk if I'd call that a Christian with a heart for God.

@WASPmexicano @MitraHispana @NOVA_Paladin @jmibullfrog @Imperator117 It’s not about the 10k farm oh my
It’s about not caring where they live not needing to have things in this world
It’s about God and God alone and making due with whatever else you get
English

@DeathHadNoPower @MitraHispana @NOVA_Paladin @jmibullfrog @Imperator117 You’re the genius who is going around pretending that it’s doable in any serious sense to live off of some unfarmable land worth 10k. You preach that she needs this but you won’t do it yourself.
English

@MitraHispana @NOVA_Paladin @WASPmexicano @jmibullfrog @Imperator117 Again it’s not about having to be on a farm
It’s about not caring if your on a farm or in a mansion.
The only thing that matters is your relationship with God
English

@DeathHadNoPower @NOVA_Paladin @WASPmexicano @jmibullfrog @Imperator117 Ok but we don’t have to be on farms today if that’s not what we’re even capable of doing 😂
English

@WASPmexicano @MitraHispana @NOVA_Paladin @jmibullfrog @Imperator117 You are so hung up on living for the world
Do you even know God or do you simply live in the world and label yourself Catholic when it’s convenient
English

@DeathHadNoPower @MitraHispana @NOVA_Paladin @jmibullfrog @Imperator117 So when are you going to be homeless in the forest?
English

@WASPmexicano @NOVA_Paladin @jmibullfrog @MitraHispana @Imperator117 But seem to be clueless of how to live a Christian live or as a Christian
Confessing with their mouths
True Christians have a new heart not a materialistic heart and live for God
Christians don’t value this life
They value relationship with God
English

@DeathHadNoPower @NOVA_Paladin @jmibullfrog @MitraHispana @Imperator117 I am a baptized Christian who confesses the catholic creeds.
English

@MitraHispana @NOVA_Paladin @WASPmexicano @jmibullfrog @Imperator117 Christians are all called to live for God and not the world
The early Christian’s all lived a communal life
English

@DeathHadNoPower @NOVA_Paladin @WASPmexicano @jmibullfrog @Imperator117 It’s a fine way to live but not everyone is called to live like that. There are monasteries less austere.
English

@DeathHadNoPower @NOVA_Paladin @jmibullfrog @MitraHispana @Imperator117 You’ve never done farm work have you?
English

@WASPmexicano @MitraHispana @NOVA_Paladin @jmibullfrog @Imperator117 Guess you don’t get what being a Christian means
English

@DeathHadNoPower @MitraHispana @NOVA_Paladin @jmibullfrog @Imperator117 I’m glad women have a bishop like you to lay commands on them
English

@MitraHispana @NOVA_Paladin @WASPmexicano @jmibullfrog @Imperator117 I don’t expect you to see the wisdom in this, it takes having the Holy Spirit to guide
The point is a Christian woman would be ok with it, she doesn’t need or live for this world
English

@DeathHadNoPower @NOVA_Paladin @WASPmexicano @jmibullfrog @Imperator117 You shouldn’t have to live like it’s 1826 to be a Christian 😂
English

@DeathHadNoPower @WASPmexicano @jmibullfrog @MitraHispana @Imperator117 Man, that's smack dab in the middle of Appalachia, that's not good land for farming, no wonder it's so cheap
English

@TheLawfulEvil @ChristinaPushaw @WASPmexicano You don’t seem to get the discussion
It’s about a Christian woman not demanding to have the things and comforts of the world in order to be with a man
A man doesn’t need to make x $ to be a viable husband
A Christian woman would live for the Lord not the world
English

@ChristinaPushaw @WASPmexicano Worked on a heritage farm and done large gardens. No thanks.
English

Repentance is when you want to starve to death marrying some dork who has escapist rural fantasies
Death Defeated@DeathHadNoPower
@MitraHispana @Imperator117 @WASPmexicano If she was truly repentant and of a changed heart she would not seek worldly desires and material things. She would be ok living on a 10k plot of land growing food and making do with a husband and having a family. Figuring it out as they went. Thats a changed Christian woman
English

@ChristinaPushaw @WASPmexicano Says the girl in pearls, materialistic
You wouldn’t be able to understand until you let go of some of your worldliness
Blinded by the world
English

@WASPmexicano I wonder how much firsthand experience the people who offer this 'advice' have with subsistence farming.
English

@WASPmexicano Farm labor is different than home steading for a family
My grandparents grew up on farms and they were poor, what’s your point man
Why are you really so angry?
Do you have a gripe with the current societal financial system?
English

@WASPmexicano You act like this is there choice
And again you are belligerent and can’t even see the wisdom in what I’m teaching you
If a woman is making a man live according to the world so they can have nice things than that is not a repentant woman
Or she has a job to be worldly
English

@WASPmexicano So a poor person is an escapist with rural fantasies?
You can’t seem to open your mind enough to even see the point
A woman should not demand a certain quality of life in this world if she is truly repentant. She will live for The Lord Alone.
Wake up and see past the world
English
