It’s beginning already. The fracturing of the liberal party will continue unabated as An*us Taylor attempts to out do One Nation at being One Nation. I’ve spoken about this many times - because it is logical. The further right that the federal liberals move to compete with the populist rhetoric of One Nation in an effort to pick up a few votes - the more the liberals will continue to compromise their balance and their centre-right and moderate liberal constituents. Over the last 10 years the Liberals have seen a mass exodus of moderate MPs, including the latest in Sussan Ley. There are few moderate liberals left at federal level. That void will be filled by Teals, by Independents and even Labor - as the electorate becomes increasingly repelled by populist politics, racism, culture-war divisions and associations with the tangerine turdine. That outlier Taylor is scratching at belongs to Hanson - and has done for a while. Some liberals at the federal level are expressing concern.
