🚨 The push to gut California’s landmark K–12 antisemitism law (AB 715) is being led by CAIR-CA, AROC, JVP, and others—groups with a documented record of the very antisemitism the law was meant to address. Read IAN’s report: intelligentadvocacy.net/f/the-campaign…

I hope no one needs an MRI this year. The world's largest producer of liquified helium is in Qatar and is shut off. We just got a notice that our supply for the year will be at least cut in half. No one could have predicted this (unless they thought about it).

Rather than get angry at this journalist and her newspaper for implying that a synagogue of Zionists may be a legitimate political target, allow me to offer a brief history lesson. Let me take you back to 1941 when Temple Israel of West Bloomfield Township, Michigan was formed. Four years earlier, the American Reform movement had adopted the "Columbus Platform," marking a major ideological shift within Reform Judaism. The Columbus Platform formally restored the idea of Jewish peoplehood to Reform Judaism and reopened the movement to Zionism. In doing so it rejected the movement's 1885 Pittsburgh Platform, which had famously declared: “We consider ourselves no longer a nation, but a religious community.” The novel and radical idea that Jews were "no longer a nation" had been imported to the US by German Jewish immigrants in the 1800s. It developed during the rise of European nationalism, when German Jews were eager to demonstrate their loyalty. By 1937, however, the world that had produced that optimism has collapsed. In Germany, Jews had already been stripped of citizenship, and Jewish businesses were expropriated. Eastern Europeans Jews were trapped with immigration severely restricted to Western countries and to Mandatory Palestine. In 1941, when Temple Israel was established on the principles of the Columbus Platform, American Jews could no longer ignore reality: antisemitism could flourish even in modern, secular societies. And yet there was one small group of American Jews, who insisted otherwise. The last organized stand against Zionism among American Jews came from a Reform splinter group called the American Council for Judaism (ACJ). Founded in 1942 as news of the mass killings of European Jewry emerged, the ACJ argued that Jews were a religion rather than a nation, that Zionism risked fueling accusations of divided loyalty, and that Jews should not form military units of any kind, anywhere. How blind and self-righteous they were. At its peak the ACJ represented no more than 1% of American Jews. The Council was loud because many of its members came from the older, established Jewish elite. But they always were a minority of a minority. After the creation of Israel and the full revelation of the horrors of the Holocaust, the ACJ rapidly faded into irrelevance. Today, once again, there is a tiny, but vocal minority of American Jews who argue that Jews are not a people but merely followers of a religion. They reject Jewish peoplehood, condemn Zionism, and denounce Israel in the harshest terms. Not only do they show little concern for the safety of fellow Jews abroad, many also defend those who attack and persecute them. When Temple Israel was founded in 1941 and supported the creation of a Jewish state, it was not inventing a modern political ideology. It was returning to the classical Jewish idea that Jews are a people, not merely adherents of a religion.

Synagogues getting shot at, burned down and Jews randomly getting attacked and we have candidates throwing around phrases like “AIPAC” “Oversees interest” and “War on Gaza” as political code words and old Jewish Tropes to prove they’re somehow “better Democrats” than those of us who believe in Israel’s right to exist. That rhetoric has consequences. Don’t pretend the anti-Israel nonsense in our politics doesn’t fuel extremists. I will continue to say it clearly: antizionism is antisemitism. PERIOD. Both Jews and Muslims deserve to live in peace. We’ve seen this hate play out before. Shame on The University of Arizona College Dems I got this Questionnaire which now includes a question on I/P as a litmus test. That has no place in the Democratic Party playbook, and I won’t compromise my values for any endorsement. No thanks. Y'all can endorse any fool who will take it.
