James and Betty Robison gave me the opportunity to see and love the poor of this world for 40 years. I am forever grateful for such an amazing gift. James passed away last night. I know he is celebrating like never before.

Today marks 19 years since my battle buddy, Cpl Zylman, was killed in Iraq. If you need motivation to move forward in life, please think about the sacrifice that Zylman, and countless others made so that we could live the American Dream. I am forever grateful for the sacrifice that my battle buddy, and countless others made. Today is about them. Let us never forget, and may they never be forgotten.

I spent all day trying not to think about today being the anniversary of my accident. Then I *just happened* to choose to watch the most intense and horrific survival movie I’ve ever watched and I realized, ah, yes, the body remembers. Art can be many things—one is cathartic.

@KSPrior @JuliePizzino It should be! Helps people realize how far from Biblical truths we have moved! “The American Gospel” is not the real one, yet the real Gospel is hid within and God in his amazing Grace allows it and brings fruit! Incredible Grace!

@JennMGreenberg It is depressing. So sad and sorry you are living in the aftermath of such devastating tragedy. I pray God redeems it all. May God raise up adoptive grandparents for you all. May your relationship with your husband & children be so restorative sweet & special that joy overtakes

My kids chose tonight to ask me why they’ve never met my parents. They’re old enough now that, “They weren’t nice,” doesn’t work anymore. So I told them about how my dad beat me up, and my mom saw him do it several times, but did nothing. She didn’t get help, that I know of. Didn’t tell anyone, that I know of. As far as I’m aware, everything was swept under the rug, and the abuse continued. And my 10YO asked me, “Is that abuse? Even if she didn’t hit you?” I wanted her to be able to decide for herself, so I asked her, “Well, if you saw someone getting beat up, what would be the right thing to do?” She thought for a moment and she said, “Yeah. That’s abuse.” So, now I’m extremely depressed, but pretending not to be because it’s family time. I feel like my kids got robbed of having grandparents on my side. I feel like they got robbed of having relationships with my siblings (because that’s a whole mess I can’t even explain on X). I feel like my whole family died but I can’t talk about the details. It’s weird. Anyway … if you’re going through something like this, and you’re feeling alone and singled out, know that you’re not alone. It’s not you. It’s them. Abuse is so much more than one event. It’s like an earthquake that sends aftershocks throughout your entire life. I haven’t seen my dad in 20 years, and still his sin is affecting what should be the most innocent and pure parts of my life.

@JennMGreenberg It’s tragic & really worse than word trauma can relay. It’s a tsunami of sorts! The level & magnitude & intensity of betrayals & such of many abuses that overtook us & left devastation that nobody can truly relate to in same way we lived & reacted & responded to it all + judged!

@KSPrior Anniversary 8 is over! Glad you are through it. Anniversaries can be so hard. Spirit Soul and Bodies all remember—seems to me. Good thing Spirit of God can rule the spirit in us to help us overcome the trauma of reality that nobody else knows like we know. Our Savior alone knows!

Today was magical. I can’t explain it and I am not a good enough photographer to capture it. My photo attempts will come later. I tried. It was just beyond beautiful, serendipitous, other worldly. For now just take my word for it.
