A tree survives storm winds not by refusing to bend, but by developing roots deep enough to flex without breaking. Human resilience works the same way. The strongest people are not those who avoid uncertainty, but those who learn how to remain open within it. They stop asking life to become predictable and instead build the capacity to meet whatever arrives with greater steadiness. So perhaps the invitation is not to seek firmer ground. Perhaps it is to become more skillful at walking shifting earth. To loosen your grip on what must pass, to love fully without demanding forever, to build deeply while knowing everything changes, and to discover that peace was never in certainty at all. This mistreated dog came to our shelter carrying deep fear from his past. At first, he wouldn’t eat, stayed curled in the corner, trembling and flinching at every little sound. He didn’t know how to trust or feel safe. Then our gentle Pit Bull named Honey showed up... moving slowly, giving space, and quietly sharing food.
