Very true. The lanes don’t connect to anything and they are on Ames St (40mph limit) and Bridge at, one of the deadliest roads for pedestrians in the state

Our default speed limit is 25mph, but cars routinely get up to 40+ mph, even in 20 mph school zones. One town road that heads in Dedham Square (Ames St) has a speed limit of 40mph, also featuring an unprotected bike lane.

75% of Boston area voters support bike lanes that are separated from traffic "even if it means less space for cars." 📊 May 2021 MassInc Poll massincpolling.com/the-topline/bo…

Interpretation: Biking is not a viable or prioritized modality in the town.

In my Dedham, it’s unacceptable to have cars routinely hitting pedestrians in the same places, over and over.

Three pedestrians have been killed on #BridgeSt #DedhamMA in the last few years, and pedestrians continue to get hit. These are preventable.. well, only if there’s political will and leadership to simply say this is unacceptable and then act on it.

@y2000k I totally hear you. It's so tragically sad that our roadways are unsafe for our kids to walk freely. The car-centric design comes at many expenses, including your mental real-estate& concern over your kid,& the time you put into waiting. It is sad. But I understand why u do it

The need for crossing guards is such a design failure

REMINDER: A #protectedbikelane may be the difference between a joyous bike ride to school or soul-crushing gridlock in the dropoff zone. P.S.: This video is from car-centric #Miami. If we can build protected bike lanes, your city can too. #onelesscar #outsideisbest

The idea that 20mph limits are only required outside schools is flawed. Children need 20mph on their whole route from home to school. So does anyone walking to or near shops. The need doesn't disappear on main roads because you find 20mph "annoying" 20splenty.org/brake_rsw_blog

This is #NeedhamSt, speed limit of 25mph at this time of day. The cars driving here are well over the speed limit. There’s a crosswalk in this video too. Could u tell? Do you think a driver could, at those speeds? Do u know what happens if a pedestrian is hit at these speeds?

Classic case of just putting more signs, and neglecting the actual design and user experience.
