@jackfifield I find it so baffling and infuriating that so many signalled junctions in Manchester don't have any pedestrian phase or lights

There have been no pedestrian lights here for many many months as Manchester City Council takes its time to upgrade the crossing.
Using temp lights would provide facilities, instead people have to gamble with a busy ring road.
If anyone gets injured, blood is on MCC's hands.

There are 8 am classes at college in the US??
The earliest class at my uni in the NL was at 9am (which already felt way too early at the time), which actually means it starts at 9:15 because of... convention.

Incoming college students: if I could offer you one piece of advice, it’d be do not take an 8am class. You’re probably thinking why not, I started high school at 8am every day? Well you see, 8am college time is 5am high school time. Don’t do it.
