Great illustration of how simplistic the libertarian understanding of economics is. For Peter, inflation simply has to always be central bank driven and downstream of "money printing." An oil shock is the classic case of cost-push inflation because it raises production costs across the entire economy, but libertarians believe in a fantasy where producers perfectly respond to falling demand signals and absorb the hit. They just redefine "real" inflation so narrowly that supply shocks are natural "price increases," then blame any broader rise on the inevitable policy response.
Peter Schiff@PeterSchiff

Rising oil prices won't cause higher inflation. More expensive oil means Americans will have less money to spend on other things. Reduced spending will cause a recession, which will result in larger budget deficits, rate cuts, and QE. That's what will cause higher inflation.

Great event in Wexford yesterday. Delighted to launch the National Party’s Family First policy. While other parties seem to talk about everything except the future of the Irish people, we in the National Party are focused on exactly that. Our policy will give young people the chance to start families, and back the Irish mothers at the centre of those families instead of sidelining them. There is no future for Ireland if we don’t put our nation’s families and children first. More from the speech coming over the next few days.

The speeches given by John, Jordan and Jason yesterday were sublime. I haven't seen this kind of talent, especially so young, in any other party in the country. Join the National Party and sign up to attend these events and be part of the beautiful Irish future we're building!

Yesterday I was very pleased to attend our South East meeting, where I gave a speech on neutrality and the need to maintain it in order to preserve the Nation. The speech will be released soon!

It was a great honour to be able to host The National Party’s South-East meeting here in Wexford yesterday. It gives me great motivation to see a room filled with young people from across the region, ready to seek change for this country. If you want to see change, join and get active.

Much of the denigrating and humiliating things we and the other nations of Europe have been forced to endure have been sold to us on the idea that we'd at least have economic prosperity to prevent people from thinking about it too much. So what happens now?

This happens every year now -- diverse parades, focus on Irish emigration history, reframing Patrick's story as one of a "migrant" or "refugee." Even a national day to celebrate Irishness is now just another excuse for the state to promote mass immigration. It's all so tiresome.
Europa.com@europa

🇮🇪 Ireland's President makes migrant rights the focus of her St. Patrick's Day message: "The story of Patrick's life serves as a reminder of the resilience and courage of migrants, the invaluable contributions they have made to the countries they now call home." Follow: @europa

Just floored a motion calling on Fingal County Council asking - "That this Council write to Minister James Browne TD., Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, insisting that housing supports such as the Help to Buy Scheme, Local Government Home Loan, Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant, First Home Scheme, Rent Tax Credit, HAP, RAS, Cost Rental Scheme, Affordable Purchase Homes, Tenant Purchase Scheme and Social Housing be ringfenced to exclude all non-Irish nationals from accessing these supports.” No one seconded it, because there is a serious lack of will from your elected officials in prioritising you, your children and their futures, more concerned about being politically correct than anything else.

@DavQuinn @AontuIE That doesn't change the fact that the term means nothing and is Aontú's way to spin the fact they have no answers to any of the civilisational problems facing us, because Aontú holds the exact same worldview as the other major parties.

When RTE was reporting the @AontuIE conference last night, they questioned the meaning of the term 'common sense'. They never do that when a party uses terms like 'social justice' or 'equality'.

Disappointing but not surprising. My motion for the council to revitalise a local motocross track in the lead up to summer was defeated by a single vote. Given the recent tragedy in Finglas, I would’ve thought that giving our young people a safe and regulated environment in which they can use their scramblers recreationally would be of paramount importance to ensure the wellbeing of everyone in our community. Clearly, some of my colleagues couldn’t care less.
