We do not get it back from the event space. It goes to the third party company that hires the union. This is specific for this state, I believe. It’s pretty layered and deep the more I look into how this actually works and where the money goes. We do not get it, or could ever get it refunded on our end. 🤷‍♂️

@DeepPocketMnstr My point was, if it's the event space charging it, you just refund people and get it all back from the event space, no cost really, just a very big inconvenience for a little while.

I couldn’t believe this happened today. It has never happened at the previous 6 events we’ve ran, and I’d be just as pissed as every vendor there. I’m personally refunding any vendors at Card Party who pay for the fee (processed many already). Emails were sent to all vendors at 2pm PT Friday with details on sending receipt in for the refund. I don’t even know who to blame at the moment but that’s not as important as just making it right with the vendors who are extremely important for putting on a great event. Ultimately, it falls on me since it’s my event, and I’m sorry for all the bs this morning to our vendors. We sold Friday only tickets to increase foot traffic for the first time this year, and we even have a vendor specific happy hour Sat night - trying to show the vendors we care and then boom - surprise fee. Sucks, but it happened and I’ll eat the cost.

@RossyBearr Yes, a cost we the hosting event company did not impose, someone else did. And we are gonna pay for it. lol

@DeepPocketMnstr I was wondering if this could have been prevented by choosing another location or as a person on Instagram said "a union building". This might happen at Card Party Dallas but hopefully not and it should have been at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas.

@ericisbased @pokemark_ Hotel said it wasn’t even them it’s the companies contracted to work with the union there are so many layers with this, and it doesn’t make sense but that can be dealt with later. Just want to make sure the vendors know they’ll get their money back from us.

@DeepPocketMnstr @pokemark_ This is so far beyond anything that’s industry standard. Don’t work with this venue again.

@DeepPocketMnstr what’s up with this $150 charge for us vendors to use our wagons to bring our stuff? And if we refuse we have only 1 time entry?

@pokemark_ I’m going to refund everyone who pays it because it’s a stupid charge that shouldn’t happen. Vendors can also choose to pay it knowing they’ll get that back from us. Email sent at 2pm PT with all that info on getting your money back.
